There are certain days in history that change everything. 28 June, 1916 was one of those. In the early hours of that day my Great, Great Uncle Thomas Wilson clambered from his trench in front of Hairpin Craters, not far from Hulluch, as part of a raid on the German lines. 1/ #ww1

Humbled to be awarded a OBE for services to global commemoration in the King’s Birthday Honours. @CWGC work is a joint effort. This recognition is dedicated to all my colleagues who keep alive the memory of our war dead. #KingsHonours #OBE #ProudMoment
Your 60 seconds (ish) cemetery chat from @CWGC Jerusalem War Cemetery, Normandy, France. The smallest? And the youngest? Certainly a special place.
Your 60 seconds (ish) from Fontenay-le-Pesnel British War Cemetery, Normandy. I love the drive down the field track to this cemetery, it builds anticipation so well, and the wonderful but subtle architecture here is a beautiful tribute. Have you been? Will you be visiting? 🚙
Your 60 seconds (ish) from @CWGC St. Manvieu War Cemetery, Normandy, France. One to add to your list of “must visit” I think. 🌹🌷🪻

As we arrived into French waters a special ceremony was held with @BrittanyFerries staff and Normandy Veterans. A wreath was cast into the sea and all on board joined in a moment of reflection.

A privilege to be traveling to Normandy with these remarkable gentlemen and to be working with a brilliant @CWGC team on the ground and back at base.

A grand send off for the veterans of Normandy with the @CWGC Torch For Peace playing a central role over the next few days of commemorations.
The new low energy LED lighting for the Menin Gate is being installed tonight. This spectacular architectural lighting is the final flourish of the two year long restoration project at the Menin Gate in Ieper.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John ‘Paddy’ Hemingway DFC – Last of ‘The Few’. We reflect not only on his sacrifices, but the sacrifices of all those who served & fought in WWII. Paddy, thank you for your service. Per Ardua ad Astra raf.mod.uk/news/articles/…
