Sudan’s war is forcing families to flee to Chad. Listen to this @CSIS podcast with @GnonKond, our regional director for @UNHCRWestAfrica. He explains the humanitarian needs of Sudanese refugees, the impact on neighboring Chad and how to bolster support. csis.org/podcasts/youth…
"What we are seeing here: an emergency in reverse." High Commissioner @FilippoGrandi visited the Islam Qala border of Afghanistan and Iran. This is what he saw.
When policy meets practice. 🇺🇸 congressional staffers visited displaced communities in Borno and Benue in 🇳🇬 to witness, first hand, how US flexible funding is saving lives and making people self-reliant. #SolutionsFromTheStart
Delighted to be invited by @CSIS to discuss how we need to urgently find solutions for the four million forcibly displaced #Nigerians 🇳🇬 Nigeria has the political will. We have the expertise. The communities are desperate. We need more support of the international community.
On Capitol Hill this week, we briefed on UNHCR’s work across the Sahel and the Sudan crisis. Bipartisan support in Congress remains vital for our lifesaving assistance.
Stability, resilience and lasting solutions for the forcibly displaced - that's UNHCR's lifesaving commitment. We appreciate the productive, bipartisan backing on Capital Hill, essential for our Sahel and Sudan crisis response.
Excellent discussions @CSIS today on forced displacement in West&Central Africa. Addressed protection, security&development challenges. Crucially, we exchanged on the importance of strong partnership with govts, communities,IFIs & private sector to drive lasting solutions.
If realized, the agreement between the Democratic Rep of Congo and Rwanda can bring peace at last to millions whose lives have been torn for decades by violence, hatred and greed, including refugees and displaced. As foreseen by the agreement, UNHCR stands ready to do its part.
We greatly value our partnership with the talented singer-songwriter @LlosaSebastian. Sebastián, thank you for your steadfast support for refugees and @kencen for hosting! youtube.com/live/zTRYGCDX-…

War in Sudan is tearing millions of lives apart. UNHCR and partners are on the ground, but the response is dangerously underfunded. Now is the time to support people whose humanitarian needs continue to grow. unh.cr/6448ccc04
I wrapped up my visit to Syria. I found many challenges but also a fragile hope. To sustain it, we urgently need: Emergency aid to support people returning to destroyed homes and lives. Long-term investments to help rebuild a country emerging from a long war. Both are vital.
Every refugee carries a story of pain, loss, and strength. They are not defined by what they’ve lost but by how they rebuild with courage. On #WorldRefugeeDay, let’s show our solidarity with refugees.

Welcome to Washington, @LlosaSebastian! Thank you for standing with refugees on #WorldRefugeeDay.

Today is #WorldRefugeeDay. I am spending it in Syria with some of the 600,000 people who have returned from neighbouring countries after 14 years of conflict. Syria today is where returning Syrians — given security, opportunities and support — can finally stop being refugees.
This #WorldRefugeeDay, our message is urgent. As conflict continues in Sudan, global support for rising humanitarian needs remains essential. Lives depend on it.
The conflict in Sudan has spiraled into the world’s largest displacement crisis. UNHCR is on the ground, rapidly responding with life-saving aid. But with millions forced to flee their homes, more resources are urgently needed. UNHCR's @mamadou_dbalde calls for greater support.
A story about family and hope amid hardship. On #WorldRefugeeDay, you're invited to a screening of the Academy Award-winning film Belfast. At dusk at the Kennedy Center's outdoor film wall. kennedy-center.org/whats-on/mille…

“Although resources are fewer and our capacity to deliver is reduced, we will continue to work hard to respond to emergencies, protect the rights of refugees and pursue solutions.” ~ @FilippoGrandi ℹ️ unh.cr/68501d0f0
Sudan’s brutal war has forced 12 million+ to flee. Building support to address the humanitarian crisis, UNHCR's Regional Director @mamadou_dbalde & Uganda Deputy Rep @jasonhepps met w/ Members of Congress, U.S. State Department, international financial institutions & partners.
Over the past 10 years, the number of people forced to flee has almost doubled. With millions of lives at risk, the need for global support and solutions is urgent. #GlobalTrends 🔗 unhcr.org/global-trends
