The Box Squat vs Traditional Squat is a debate coaches have discussed for the past several decades. Strength coaches either love or hate the box squat, but like everything else, it’s a tool. In this thread, we will look at benefits, misconceptions, and possible risks. <Thread>

I might have to steal all of this. @MarkHoover71
Using the loaded jump “Prilepin chart” I stole from @ScottLeech72 a few weeks ago. Part of our performance circuit this morning…2.65+ m/s peak loaded jump combined with @SHREDmillSpeed G3 and a 20 yard overspeed rep with @1080motion @Tony_Villani_ @MashElite
Once again, I have an article all about “Improving Power Production in Athletes” <Link in Bio> 4️⃣Squats are Dangerous! Deadlifts are Dangerous! Hip Thrusts are Dangerous! @bretcontreras didn’t realize that building huge booties is dangerous. The fear-mongering needs to end. 👇
The World still has three little ones coming on! The World of Strength will never be the same when we’re finished. Now in October my young ones will get to see it with their own eyes as I am set to make my debut back on the platform. I will announce the particulars Monday!

What are some unique ways that you coaches are using Velocity Based Training for the Sport of Football? I’m collecting these methods for a new article. @clh_strength @SpencerGArnold @MarkHoover71 I’m open to hear from any of you. Thank you! #implementation
➡️Athletes have to accelerate through the entire movement, so they can get under the barbell without getting killed. lol Throwers seem to really understand this concept. The problem is that most coaches truly understand the lifts & their progressions & regressions.
And using the Dynamic Strength index, you know that 90% of the athletes have an DSI of >.8 meaning they need more peak force. Read my article from @GymAware here: gymaware.com/practical-uses… 2️⃣Athletes only need strength training for athleticism. Not true either.
If you’re still in the dark about training athletes and you run any level of weight room (especially high school coaches), you should seek outside help or should undoubtedly be sued if someone gets injured. Open your eyes and search for answers. There’s really no excuses anymore
➡️They need sprint specific work focusing on acceleration, transition, & max velocity. I love our @SHREDmillSpeed for full speed technical cues. ➡️They need real plyometric work. ➡️You can find articles about plyometrics & improving sprint performance <Link in Bio>
3️⃣Expression of Power doesn’t improve Power! 🤔🤷🏼♂️ Luckily Verkhoshansky made it clear that folks trained well in the Olympic lifts seem to defy the relationship between Force & Velocity by the very nature of the movement.

➡️Stronger Bones & Healthier Bodies ➡️ Injury Prevention in Sports- Lifting reduces risk of common injuries (like ACL tears). 💡 Stronger muscles = better joint stability and control 📖 Faigenbaum et al., 2009 ➡️Better Body Composition
I have been squatting and deadlifting since I was 11-yrs-old. I have been coaching those movements since 1997 aka 28-years. The only people I have witnessed getting hurt from these movements were elite powerlifters and weightlifters. Anything taken to the extreme is dangerous.
