New episode: Haiti is approaching the point of no return. historyasithappens.libsyn.com/living-hell-in…
The United States used to invade Haiti -- in 1915, 1994, and 2004. Today, there is no appetite for sending in the Marines to restore order in a country engulfed by violent anarchy. historyasithappens.libsyn.com/living-hell-in…

The new Superman movie was so terrible I wanted to walk out after about 30 minutes. Had nothing to do with its mild political messaging. It was insufferable noise. How do you screw up Superman this badly?

Another instance where Bret Stephens doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
This is getting close to the logic of holocaust deniers who often point to the existence of survivors, escapees, the existence of Jewish partisans, the sporadic use of Jewish labor, and the fact that not all camps were used for extermination to cast doubt on genocidal intent
Horrifying, unsparing report. Military and civilian superiors share criminal responsibility for these near-daily war crimes, whether by ordering them or failing to stop them.
This is completely false. The ICRC field hospital alone reported dozens of fatalities and hundreds of gunshot wounds, with all patients saying they were on their way to GHF sites. Doctors and nurses have spoken to reporters and shared photos and videos. CNN found bullets.

Incisive comments. Omer argues that Israel intends to destroy the Palestinians of Gaza—as a substantial part of the Palestinian group as a whole—through a combination of killing and displacement. This is how the ICTY and ICJ analyzed the genocide at Srebrenica.
Genocide doesn’t always look like the Holocaust, according to @bartov_omer. In part 2 of my conversation with the Israeli-born scholar, he responded to critics who say the war in Gaza doesn’t qualify as a genocide:
"There is no case since WW2 of starvation that has been so minutely designed and controlled" Famine expert Alex de Waal on Israel deliberately starving an entire civilian population
Coming up on the podcast: Tomorrow: Jeffrey Engel and David Kramer on Putin and American presidents, Clinton to Trump, and the war in Ukraine. Friday: Keith Mines on the collapse of Haiti
