Among the teams I have confirmed are still in for MLB Phenom Shohei Ohtani: Dodgers Cubs Blue Jays Angels This isn’t an exclusive list, others still remain in. These are just the ones I know are still in the mix.
Sources: Ohtani sweepstakes are moving along and the Texas Rangers and at least one team in the AL East has dropped out. Teams who feel they aren’t real players are beginning to take themselves out of talks.
Sean Manaea regular season Mets stats since dropping his arm angle July 30th, 2024: 14 G 83 IP 96 K 6-3 record 3.04 ERA 3.28 FIP & xFIP 1.9 WAR He’s been really really good.
So great to have Manaea back. He’s just a totally different pitcher since dropping his arm angle, fun to watch.
Mets are not in on Suarez. Their priority is bullpen but a starter and a CF wouldn’t hurt.
BREAKING: The Seattle Mariners are acquiring first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks, sources tell ESPN.
Dylan Cease is the unluckiest pitcher in baseball this year (thank you @JonPgh for the graphic). Electric stuff and some bad earned run luck so far, but a very very good arm. IMO, the best arm on the market if available.
A surprise name has emerged in the starting pitcher market: Dylan Cease, who will be eligible for free agency at year's end. Perception of other teams is that the Padres are intent on making a push for the playoffs, and would use Cease to help fill other roster needs. Mets, AL…
Francisco Alvarez will never be a complete hitter, and that’s totally fine. Tell him to go up there and swing for the fences. His power is legit and running away from what got him here is ultimately whats hurt him the most. Seems he realized again that that’s his game in AAA.
Montas has navigated some trouble today, but the numbers look good for him today. Just cannot get blanked by 86 mph fastball Kyle Hendricks.
I think it’s very possible that the biggest acquisition the Mets will make this deadline is for a high-leverage reliever. Think someone like Felix Bautista. The way it looks right now, Diaz is a FA this offseason…I’d be surprised if Stearns re-ups him over $100M.
No. Devers contract was terrible…the analytics crowd around the league was shocked Boston got what they did while shedding the deal. It seemed light, but it’s mostly because of the $. It was a bad deal for the Giants
I think every team would do that Devers deal for what they gave up tbf
Phillies in agreement with free-agent reliever David Robertson, pending physical, source tells @TheAthletic. Story: nytimes.com/athletic/65054…
Mets are recalling Francisco Alvarez from Syracuse, according to a source.
Stanek here for the 9th. If he blows it, Mendoza will get a LOT of noise about the decision. Lets hope its the right one.
Reminder: this is the BEST season of baserunning in Soto’s career. What a jump and slide!
Juan Soto’s under the radar career-best baserunning year continues! He’s just tied his career high in stolen bases already on July 19th, after already entering the night 71st percentile in MLB per Statcast with +1 baserunning runs added. 🔀 #LGM
Luis Torrens is the best Mets catcher at throwing guys out since…?
