Yey Big Red!
He’s done it!🥇 RaceShare stalwart RED MIRAGE bounces back to win in a nail biting finish at @DoncasterRaces this afternoon for @johnquinnracing. Huge congratulations to his owners, great memories of one of our most popular horses getting his head in front again 😍
🤝 Journalism cools out with his regular exercise rider Marc Witkowski after his Haskell (G1) win.
An amazing day for the family as Dad wins the race for the third time! Thanks for all the messages and a wonderful job done by the team at home so far and still plenty to look forward to with her
What a finish to this one! Anthelia wins the Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes! 🥇 @NewburyRacing |@EDMUNDZZ98 | @millmanracing | @MprUpdates
The party line and far from encouraging. This is not a tidying up exercise as it seems to imply, it’s pretty insulting to our intelligence for them even to suggest that. At least you’ve had a response. I’ve yet to have one from @DrBenSpencer.

Last 7 days alone (July 10-16th) - almost 70% of the UK/IRE flat program was less than 8.5f.
Race programme has already has been sold down the river. Until recently it was a rule of racing that every card had to have at least 2 races beyond a mile whose aggregate distance was at least 2.5 miles. Now that rule has gone & cards with no race beyond a mile are commonplace.
Well, we've gone bonkers! Our staying mare has produced a cracking Stradivarius colt and is carrying his foal again. Oh, and we're only interested in flat racing!😊
Westover is getting some good stock over there 2foals sold for £300k + he is juddmonte bred sire i actually think both him & adayar are going to make it as stallions.
Deep impact - champion sire. Won over 2 miles. Kizuna - champion sire. Ran over 2 miles. Kiltisan black - champion sire in waiting. Won over 2 miles. I’m also informed that the Belmont has a better track record at producing stallion than the KY derby
I’m convinced this generation is trying to fuck the breed up as much as possible for the next, utter madness
Despite this obsession with (precocious) speed, GB and Ireland are still relatively poor at producing quality sprinters. So, to recap: there’s an oversupply of a not very good horses & an undersupply of a quality horses who also have more races to run in and better resale value.
@kevinblake2011 did some research on the 2022 Return of Mares in GB and Ireland which showed 52% of mares were covered by sires who had won over no further than 7f. Only 13.4% were covered by sires who had won over 12f+. That’s how unbalanced our supply chain is.
Oh. My. God.
I’d say 52% is nearly 50/50 and as 7F is over half of 12 furlongs it’s pretty balanced - and at past 12 Furlongs you’re getting into the realms of breeding NH horses anyway! The above seems pretty balanced!

Their racing prowess is no accident but the result of decades of meticulous planning and strategic foresight. The Japanese Racing Association (JRA) operates some of the most sophisticated training facilities in the world at Miho and Ritto. These centres aren't just about training…
Honestly I'm a little emotional about this: We're watching - in real time - proof that an entire major block of people made a concerted effort on both the breeding and racing sides of the game for two - maybe three - generations and now they're ultra competitive the world over
Special delivery! ✈️ The Japanese horses have arrived at @DelMarRacing for #BC24!
Think @CollingsBerry coverage has been fantastic to see. Japanese breeding appears to be about breeding the best regardless of trip. No fascination or obsession with precocious speed nor a focus on immediate returns. Love a middle distance horse
