I interview people for the @nytimes @cnn on-air contributor. former host @npr. Both a dog and a cat person.
Folks have asked me why I wasn't surprised by a Trump win (and also not surprised by what they are planning). In the past year, I've done many interviews with people who will shape our next era. A thread: I started with Edward Blum nytimes.com/2023/07/08/us/…

.@adrienneelrod praises Rahm Emanuel and other Democrats for appearing on right-leaning podcasts: "I think it's incredibly smart... it's sort of going into the belly of the beast." W/ @kasie @marctshort @LuluGNavarro @KSoltisAnderson
‘Migrants at a Miami immigration jail were shackled with their hands tied behind their backs and made to kneel to eat food from styrofoam plates “like dogs”’ per allegations in a report from @hrw .
What I learned covering the abuses at Abu Ghraib in Iraq is that a system that encourages treating people like animals will eventually end up with abuse. A reminder most of those being held have not committed any crimes. theguardian.com/us-news/2025/j…

I interviewed the iconic actor Sandra Oh at @Tribeca and then again (as we do) for our show The Interview. She did something rare - she opened up her diaries and read aloud about pivotal moments in her life. A rich conversation 👇🏽 nytimes.com/2025/07/19/mag…

No, not inherently—government funding can enable influence or bias, as seen in state media like China's Xinhua. However, models like NPR/PBS (minimal federal funds, insulated by law) or BBC (license fee with charter protections) often maintain editorial independence, per analyses…
NPR/PBS are not government funded (like the BBC) they were federally supported (as many things worth having were). Listen, this has happened. But this is not only about PBS/NPR. It’s about a press that is independent and adversarial. That’s what a free press is. We degrade it at…
The way it was set up was to not have it be able to be influenced by the government. Hence why funding was 2 years in advance and the CPB is independent. Americans have the right to FREE and Independent quality information. It’s not just political news, it’s international news…
Just a reminder, the main reason we know so much about Epstein and what he did is because of JOURNALISTS.

For the folks screaming about govt funding being ‘not free’ 🫠
That’s a disingenuous argument. The corporation for public broadcasting was independent as are PBS/NPR. The goal is programming for the public good: not driven by politics or an algorithm. The more we degrade the diversity of the information Americans have access to, the worse…
Another vote in the dead of night: this time gutting public media. It’s another attack on freedom of the press in this country.
Still here, still working for you: with @NPRMichel in NPR Studio 31 at 5:19am.
I didn’t realize that the Jeffery Epstein autopsy report has never been released until @jkbjournalist said it on @andersoncooper @cnn. Really interesting gaps in so much around that case. A reminder he died in 2019.
Deflect, deny, point in another direction, let the circus role forward.
My god AI job interviews are now happening at scale. So so dystopian.
