Still here, still working for you: with @NPRMichel in NPR Studio 31 at 5:19am.

In The NY Times, @DavidAFrench writes: “When we talk about immigration, the better word is adoption, and it took a superhero movie to help me understand why.” In the 1800’s, immigrants who became Americans were often called “our Adopted Citizens” !! nytimes.com/2025/07/17/opi…
Soooo much good original reporting comes out of @kut and the Texas Newsroom, a collaboration of NPR and local stations.
🧵NEW: For years, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said he did not need to disclose more about his real estate interests to state ethics regulators. Of the 10 properties he or his blind trust own — most purchased in the last five years — he'd only ever listed four. #txlege
always fun to chat with @NPRinskeep
Did some in Congress fail to do their taxpayer-funded jobs? @jmart gives a nuanced look: Some lawmakers abandoned their power of the purse when presented with bills that were not about the details, but an “up or down referendum on Donald Trump.” npr.org/2025/07/21/nx-…

A @maxwelltani mustread on a new effort by a Palantir exec to remake Hollywood
Folks, not everything is nat’l politics (Most) everyone wants accountability for a city councilor taking a bag of cash from a developer Best way to do that (or ward it off) is a robust state and a local press
"We have a newspaper that's printed once a week, so without the radio station, we're kind of in the blind here, locally." NPR's Frank Langfitt's richly observed story on Allegheny Mountain Radio - which relies heavily on federal $. (Not an NPR station) npr.org/2025/07/20/nx-…
In this clip, @ErinBurnett of @CNN asks how I am handling the pressure on media. My answer: We have freedom of speech and the press. We may pay a price for exercising it. Our job is to accept that, humbly do the best work we can, and make sure we can defend it.
I recall something about him doodling, but really had not been aware of the president’s artistic sense washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/…
Well! I don’t know this “relative,” but here’s my real genealogy: Indiana farmers, schoolteachers, high school coaches and the occasional pastor, more Republican than not. From a “very early age” I was “steeped in” the value of education, working hard, and laughing harder.

On @WAMCRadio in northern New York, they are reading aloud messages from people who began or renewed their memberships in the station today. One says: “I once was lapsed but now am found.”
Thanks for listening! As many conservatives do. It’s good that you drop the official line (“Total left wing propaganda!!”) in favor of, “Okay, they hear all sides, but my side isn’t heard ENOUGH.” Sometimes I’d agree, sometimes not. Sometimes the other side says this, too.
I've loved NPR. I used to donate. But the ratio of left wing guests to right wing guests makes this claim totally unreasonable. Furthermore, when there are really controversial issues, it's rare when the hosts give equal treatment. It's very hard for anyone to deny this.
Today, I joined @NPRinskeep on Up First to discuss: President Trump is threatening to sue The Wall Street Journal for reporting on his past ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while calling for some additional Epstein files to be made public. npr.org/2025/07/17/nx-…
The great @ErinBurnett had me on @CNN to talk about NPR. One of the revelations: many of the lawmakers who claim NPR is biased have been guests on NPR, and have been able to tell their own stories in their own words. vimeo.com/1102363466/e1f…
Rep. Tim Burchett to Erin Burnett on CNN: “I’ve known a few criminals in my life. Heck, I’m a legislator, I’ve served with some.” Says this while discussing what to do about the Epstein files.
Today on NPR: casting light on a story a politician is trying to tamp down: The Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein files. Here is a timeline: npr.org/2025/07/17/nx-… And here is analysis from Republican strategist Alex Conant: npr.org/2025/07/17/nx-…
