After 2 years behind bars, @RFERL journalist Ihar Karnei finally got to hug his wife Ina 🙏 Freedom means political prisoners can reunite with loved ones, heal, and rebuild their lives. This process must not stop – it must continue until everyone is free.
The release of 14 political prisoners in Belarus is only the first step. We’re relieved to see them free — including Siarhei Tsikhanouski — but over 1,000 people remain behind bars for political reasons. Since 2020, at least 8 have died in custody. Everyone must be released!
For 14 people, their years of suffering under inhumane conditions of detention have finally come to a happy end. But there are still well over a thousand political prisoners in Belarus! libereco.org/en/deutschland…
This morning, our team in Switzerland loaded a truck with beds and mattresses donated by a Zurich hotel. They’re now on their way to Dnipro, where they’ll be used in emergency shelters for internally displaced people. Big thanks to our members and the hotel!

We are very happy that many people came to our letter writing workshop in Leipzig today! Thank you for supporting Belarusian political prisoners! 💌📢

Five years ago today, Belarusian blogger and activist Siarhei Tsikhanouski was arrested. He remains behind bars and for 2 years his wife @Tsihanouskaya has been unable to contact him. His fate remains unknown. We call for his immediate release: prisoners.spring96.org/en/person/siar…
😱 Belarus adds more time to the sentence of a #politicalprisoner — now 24 years and 5 months in total Siarhei Ramanau, an anarchist, was only 26 years old when he was imprisoned in #Belarus. That was 4 ½ years ago. Now, his prison sentence has almost equalled the length of his…

Belarusian prisons are torture chambers. Heartbreakingly, we lost another political prisoner, 61 y.o. Valiantsin Shtermer. He was sentenced to 5 years for anti-war comments & "insulting Lukashenka". He was admitted to prison after a stroke & was also sent to a punishment cell.
Karina protested peacefully. Dzmitry made a donation. Ales championed human rights. Just three names among the more than 1,200 political prisoners in Belarus. Today, we reaffirm our solidarity with the many brave Belarusians who pursue freedom and justice. #StandWithBelarus
