A lot of hot takes on this without reading the case, which is publicly available at austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/viewdo…. Calling colleagues 'baby killers', opining that COVID vaccines are made from murdered babies and endorsing the gassing of 'inferior races'. Not very Christian at all. 🤨
🚨 An Aussie doctor has been found guilty of professional misconduct. Not for harming patients. But for posting Christian views, including memes & satire from @TheBabylonBee, on social media. Yes, that can now cost you your medical licence in Australia. Meet Dr Jereth Kok 🧵
You know that keeping copies of your own policy work is so worthwhile when some genius executive proposes an new and brilliant solution, and you realise that you did that seven years ago. So you just grab the work from then, tweek it and change the names and dates. 🤔

Since first suspicion by ultrasound … I had to wait one month for biopsy and 2 more for mastectomy - by then it had spread to one lymph node and I walked around in terror every single day. Something must change.
It's an excellent day when Cal arrives with her commissioned art piece Girl Wave, and all I did in return was make an amigurumi rainbow kitty! 🤗❤️🐱🌈

Harry Potter actress, Miriam Margoyles, says her current big issue is Gaza: “I feel it particularly because I’m Jewish. I think the terrible thing I have to face is that Hitler won. He changed us. He made us like him.” #whyhastheantisemitismenvoygonesoquiet
Tough luck #Wallabies- but chin up, there was plenty to be proud of in that game. Best performance I've seen from you in years! #NZLvBIL
We didn't have to wait long to find out, did we? ''I'll take 'women' for 50 points again, thanks Bob'. Dear Meirion, racism, sexism, and badmouthing colleagues isn't accepted here anymore. #OperateWithRespect 💪

Wise words from @TMitchellFRCS 'As we harness... new technology, we must not forget the patient in the room. Too often, I hear patients say that they felt as though the doctor was more interested in the computer on the desk than in what they had to say.' publishing.rcseng.ac.uk/doi/10.1308/rc…
Brilliant words from Dr Gemma Scrimgeour in @RCSnews Bulletin. 'Put simply, we are ordinary people, doing an extraordinary job. Is it so hard to believe that, now and then, we might need support? And does that really make us any less worthy?' #wellbeing publishing.rcseng.ac.uk/doi/10.1308/rc…
I'm feeling utterly spoilt with the unexpected arrival of a thank you hamper after my recent trip to the UK. And the biscuit tin plays Handel's Water Music! (Sound up) 🤗🙏🎶

US beef price is up >10% over the past year (tariffs and climate change working out really well for them) 😬 so it's hardly surprising Aussies aren't keen on paying more $$$ for lower quality beef. Especially when the CDC has also been gutted. 'Mad cow disease'? No thanks. 😵💫👎

The NHS unfortunately has become both chronically unfunded but it's the sacred cow of UK politics. Any talk of reform immediately brings up "we don't want the US system" rather than looking at what other non-US countries do that works well
In females iron deficiency anaemia is the leading cause of years of life lost due to disability: Screening for anaemia was recommended in the WHO 1968 10 principles of screening pivotal work. Yet women remain under managed
This feels like gender bias. Is there any other reasonable explanation? Why are there such delays for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment in the UK?
A patient with testicular cancer will have orichidectomy within a week of his ultrasound, and ultrasound within a week of attending his GP with a lump. Breast cancer pathway has significant delays in comparison.
EIGHT WEEKS 😱 And another 8 weeks to begin treatment. Has the NHS fallen off a cliff?
I don't think the issue is as much about *screening* as about delay in diagnosis and treatment of actual, symptomatic cancers. It's 8weeks for a red flag breast clinic appointment for clinically suspicious lesion here.
Not enough resources for earlier detection of anything - many women I know have gone to the GP with some symptoms (not necessarily of breast cancer), and was told either they can't/won't do anything about it unless it needs to be treated immediately or it's all in their head.
Agree. Same for CRC screening by colonoscopy. More money into risk-stratified screening and prioritising interventions with greater population-level impact on mortality and well-being.
My mum, in UK, went for a routine mammogram and then heard nothing until a letter arrived in the post a few weeks later to go for more testing. She had breast cancer, mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy. I shiver when I think about that letter getting lost in the mail
