Important community meeting organised by Transform Tulse Hill tonight. Outline of the serious safety issues Tulse Hill Gyratory System continues to pose. A packed room of motivated residents with some great ideas for moving forward.
Tonight is the night! Looking forward to meeting members of our community at 7pm at the former Salvation Army Hall at 246 Norwood Road - it's time to fix the gyratory! Everyone welcome @TheNorwoodForum @StationTStation @OlgaFitzRoy @betterstreetswd @LambethLivingSt @StMartinsLab
Today @ Full Council I asked @RezinaChowdhury to support Cllrs in inviting @TfL @willnorman & @SebDance to meet residents in St Martin’s & update them on plans for the Tulse Hill Gyratory, & so they can see this dangerous piece of road first hand. We appreciate your support.
Motoring organisations are suggesting you might not want to buy an SUV if you live in a city. But what's so bad about SUVs? Turns out...loads! Here are just some of the reasons they shouldn't be allowed in cities. bbc.co.uk/news/business-…
Urban SUVs are not okay, councils can disincentivise them via a surcharge for: - having bigger engines - weighing over 1800kg Or require 2nd permit for being more than 2.4m long (2 spaces) Or bollards either side of road that force wide cars to slow & often scratch them.
We’re asking Lambeth residents to provide additional watering to newly planted street trees and those on estates in the borough 🌳💦 Our contractors regularly water them, but due to the extended hot and dry periods, more help is needed 🫶 Learn more brnw.ch/21wU4gZ
Great to see masterplan proposals from @HarleyStreetBID to make the amazing streets in that area much more pedestrian friendly. Too much traffic, hard-to-cross-streets and tricky junctions make walking there much less enjoyable than it should be. See: harleystreetbid.com
An outpouring of love for #SaferStreets in West Dulwich 💚 Thank you to those @lambeth_council, politicians and all those who worked with our community in trying to deliver them 💚 🩷🩵💜🧡💚💙💛🤍♥️
Clean air isn’t a luxury — it’s a basic right. And on #CleanAirDay, we’ve got proof that bold action works. London’s ULEZ is cutting pollution, cleaning up our air — and showing what’s possible when policy puts people first. Tell us what clean air means to you👇
NEW RESEARCH: new car bonnets are trending higher every year and drivers of high fronted cars unable to see children as old as nine 😱🚙🚸❗ #Carspreading is out of control. What’s the latest? 🧵1/9
We joined up with @cities_clean and @MumsForLungs this morning to support the launch of a terrifying new report from @transenv which shows that children under the age of 9 cannot be seen by the driver when directly in front of the vehicle.
Cars are getting bigger, heavier and wider every year …. ⚠️Carspreading is taking over our cities ⚠️ Carspreading is putting lives at risk ⚠️Carspreading is damaging our planet Write to your local council to put an end to #carspreading. More here👇 cleancitiescampaign.org/carspreading/
Lambeth council is consulting on a design for a new LTN between Kennington Road and Kennington Lane. Will remove through traffic from streets including Brook Drive and part of Cycleway 7 haveyoursay.lambeth.gov.uk/en-GB/projects…
Mayoral support needed to help tackle ‘Carspreading’ | London City Hall < Very interesting motion from @LondonAssembly. Doesn’t go as far as proposing Ken Livingstone’s defeated “4x4 charges” but it does suggest size of vehicles is a new area 1/2 london.gov.uk/who-we-are/wha…
LTNs reduce road danger. When road danger is reduced more people travel actively 💚
The difference on Leigham Vale since the CPZ came in is incredible. Previously this would be rammed full of parked cars by 8.30am. Now look at it. Next step is to install the chicanes and speed bumps/traffic calming.
Dalmore Rd, West Dulwich. Once a notorious ratrun, now a safe route for active travel💚 #LTN #SaveOurLTN
Giving children some space back, denied to them by the phenomenal rise of motor vehicles 💚 #LTN #SaveOurLTN
Something strange has appeared on Valley Road: a zebra crossing… that no one can officially explain. No @lambeth_council signs. No announcement. Just fresh paint. No one seems to know who did it. But many say: “It should’ve been done a long time ago.”
Evidence Shows LTNs improve people's lives 💚 theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/m… The silent majority beginning to turnout from across West Dulwich to #SaveOurLTN 💪💚 More pics to follow 📸
