Lambeth Labour
@LambethLabour
News and updates from your Lambeth Labour Councillors. Promoted by David Oxley on behalf of Lambeth Labour, all at 264 Rosendale Road, London, SE24 9DL.
Today marks 20 years since Jean Charles de Menezes was tragically killed at Stockwell Station. This morning, a moving tribute was held to remember his life. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

🚨 REJECTED: This week, Lambeth Green Party asked for extra cash and resources for their political activity. They’re demanding over £60,000 in extra resources, all for gaining one extra council seat. In the middle of a financial crisis for councils, this demand is unacceptable.

I’m proud to have proposed the motion passed at last night’s Lambeth Council meeting declaring a #NatureEmergency, working with my fellow @ClaphamParkLab councillor and nature nerd @mtiedemann. Here’s why this is needed🧵
Expanding breakfast clubs, fighting for fairer school funding, improving SEND provision and supporting cleaner, safer environments. That's the Labour difference. #OnYourSide

Today @ Full Council I asked @RezinaChowdhury to support Cllrs in inviting @TfL @willnorman & @SebDance to meet residents in St Martin’s & update them on plans for the Tulse Hill Gyratory, & so they can see this dangerous piece of road first hand. We appreciate your support.
Our message is clear: growth in Lambeth must work for everyone. And opportunity must be felt in every corner of our wonderful borough. #OnYourSide

Lambeth Labour sees every new council home delivered as the life of a family transformed. We are determined to continue to deliver new affordable homes for Lambeth residents, despite the Green Party’s best efforts to block them. Politics is about choices.
🏞️ The ugly new build on Central Hill destroys the iconic ridge line, erasing public skylines and community character. Our green horizons deserve protection, not concrete, prison-looking buildings. #CentralHill #ProtectOurRidge
Lovely summers evening canvassing out and about in Clapham Town this evening. As ever, if there’s any issues that you’d like to let us know about please contact us on [email protected] You can also contact your 3 ward Labour councillors below👇 lambeth.gov.uk/about-council/…
Good news for #Hernehill @lambeth_council is moving forward with plans for a new School Street for @stjudeslambeth by year-end. This will make travel to & from school safer & healthier, & create a more vibrant space outside the school gates 👍🏽 #childfriendlystreets #schoolrun
Today we mark 20 years since the horrendous 7/7 terror attacks on our city Lambeth Council leader @clairekholland laid a wreath at the Hyde Park 7/7 Memorial this morning as we remember those we lost and restate that terrorism cannot divide us
Every new home is a life transformed. That’s why we’re working hard to deliver the new homes our borough needs & to fix the housing crisis left by the previous government. Fenwick South is a 100% social housing development providing secure council homes for 150 residents 👇
The legal attempt to block us from taking back council homes to house those in most need has failed. We’ve reclaimed 160+ homes lost through Right to Buy so we can provide urgent housing, not private rental homes to those who can afford £16k annual rents. love.lambeth.gov.uk/high-court-rej…
Great to visit Fenwick South today, a 100% social housing development providing secure council homes for 150 residents. ✅ Tackling the housing crisis with new social homes ☀ Climate friendly solar panels = lower bills 💼 16 new job starts & apprenticeships for local people

From all of us in Lambeth Labour we wish the Portuguese community in Lambeth a very happy Portugal, Camões and Portuguese Communities Day! 🇵🇹

An extra 500,000 children will now get Free School Meals across the country — lifting another 100,000 out of poverty, thanks to our Labour Government's announcement today. This is brilliant news, and builds on some of the work we are already doing in Lambeth 👇

Great news that @bphillipsonMP is extending free school meals to 500,000+ children. Feeding children who need support is one of the most crucial interventions govt can make & this will lift 100,000 out of poverty. There’s no place for hunger in schools. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
A £2.6 million investment from Lambeth Labour, alongside @HeritageFundUK, is transforming West Norwood Cemetery. Creating new opportunities for the community, learning and cultural events, while also bringing heritage & people together. We're incredibly proud of this project 👇
