For #NationalMoonDay, we're sharing the moon rock we have on display at the #LBJLibrary, which was collected during the #Apollo15 mission in '71. 🌑 This rock symbolizes one of #LBJ's goals as a founder of the U.S. space program: to send an astronaut safely to the #Moon & back.

#OnThisDay: Sixty-two years ago today, on 07/19/63, Blanco, one of #LBJ's many dogs, was born. He was given to the Johnsons as a gift from a little girl in #Illinois. Before leaving the #WhiteHouse, they gave Blanco to a doctor & his wife in #Kentucky. Blanco passed away in 1974.
