The publisher of In a Green Tree and Feast of Laughter, a celebration of the writings of R. A. Lafferty.
Today the phantom history concept is attributed to Heribert Illig (or Dmitry Galkosvky)... but I first read about in a Barnaby Sheen story by R.A. Lafferty published in 1977.
Happy Birthday to Mr. Gene Wolfe who died 6 years ago on April 14, 2019. Born in 1931, he would be 94 today. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord.
Seems like a good time to recommend the short story 'Sodom and Gomorrah, Texas' by R.A. Lafferty
The inexplicably radioactive, natural glass-covered four thousand year old ruins of Mohenjo-Daro to other Indian and Pakistani cities preparing for a nuclear exchange
R. A. Lafferty's Fourth Mansions is many things. It is a contrast between St. Theresa of Avila's spirituality and Teilhard de Chardin's materialistic Darwinism. It has immortal creatures striving to keep the Earth in its eternal cycles. It has psychic powers and paramilitary…
What a great time for you to read R. A. Lafferty. I know you like Gene Wolfe and Lafferty is a writer most similar to him. He has a great alternative history short story in which cars were banned and every transport is a tram, limited to 20 km for each rail.
I’ve been re-reading Belloc and have been pondering a strange thing: that he and R A Lafferty had access to the same genius—different faces of the genius, perhaps, but the same in dexterity, levity, and a Catholic energy. Belloc was also one of the truly great hypethral writers.
«Ese picor presagioso», de R.A. Lafferty, el último relato de @CuentosAlgernon Año XII, es una sátira desenfadada, corrosiva (nunca mejor dicho) e hilarante. Pero cualquier semejanza con la realidad NO es pura coincidencia. buff.ly/7MDvXs9
One of the biggest and most destructive revisions was the way in which the full extent of Aquinas's Neo-Platonism was written out of the record so he could be represented as an almost complete Aristotelian. As a result his De causis Procli and De divinis nominibus Dionysii were…
Walter Wangerin Jr — The Book of the Dun Cow and sequel George MacDonald- everything RA Lafferty - Everything
Steve have you read Gene Wolfe, Tim Powers or R. A. Lafferty? Christopher Ruocchio? All of these guys are/were devout Catholic authors who wrote about weird, weird things.
Gene Wolfe and R.A. Lafferty are the GOAT Sci-Fi writers. Everyone else is playing catch up.
Our annual free anthology is now out: "Cuentos para Algernon. Year XII", with amazing stories by Alix E Harrow @ShearmanRobert @DerekKunsken @jamesagard @Rasnictem @arrroberts V H Leslie @aptshadow @sylvaine_angela @ThomasHaWrites @kristina_ten Allen M Steele and R A Lafferty.
I haven’t done a Tales of the Right Wing Artists in a while: R.A. Lafferty was a conservative Catholic science fiction writer whose novel Past Master has been described as the most rw sci fi novel ever written, yet who has been a huge influence on Samuel Delany . . .
“This Boding Itch” translation has now been posted. One of Lafferty’s least known prophetic texts. cuentosparaalgernon.wordpress.com/2024/12/07/est…
