Update: the judgment has been published in this case and we've added the live link to the judgment at the beginning of the blog post. No more force (or threat of force) to compel feeding of woman with severe and enduring anorexia openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2025/07/04/no-… via @OpenJusticeCoP
On this day in 1866, Beatrix Potter was born—an author, illustrator, preservationist, scientist, and visionary whose pen brought lovable little protagonists to life and whose heart helped preserve the very landscapes that inspired their stories. Happy Birthday, Beatrix Potter!
I’ve come across this shocking blog by @KitzingerCelia from 2020. I hope it’s not something that still happens today @OpenJusticeCoP @mencap_charity openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2020/08/20/whe…
Another change of location this week: 23 miles hiking with family on or around the SW coast path - in Somerset and Devon. Several visits to historic houses too #nhs1000miles
Literary tourism continued - now in S Devon at Greenway, Agatha Christie’s holiday home (& following in the footsteps of @DrPennyBradshaw!)
A day of contrasts on the Somerset/North Devon border: damselflies on the river Exe; a visiting Shropshire Morris troupe; Lynmouth harbour; and Exmoor ponies in the evening light, with deer behind
“Perhaps the most contentious matter is the question of his social media and internet access.” But who is the decision-maker? By @DanielClark132 + @Eleanor_Tallon + Heather Walton openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2025/07/24/per… via @OpenJusticeCoP
A fab collaboration between @DanielClark132 @Eleanor_Tallon and Heather Walton, mother of a P free to talk about her CoP experiences. Different perspectives of this hearing which highlights unequal power dynamics in the courtroom. Why is the judge asking about removing a deputy?

Attention all lawyers: If you want ANY reporting restrictions, you have to tell representatives of the press IN ADVANCE This idea is not new, but has been so widely ignored that it's had to be written explicitly in the Procedure Rules newsmediauk.org/blog/2025/07/2…
Superb Wainwright exhibition currently on @ArmittMuseum, Ambleside. Congrats to @AW_archivist on putting this together to mark the 70th anniversary of the first Pictorial Guide. Don't miss it!
Stumbled across these West Somerset Morris dancers - this dance is “Jenny Lee” (they say) - in Lynton
Inspired by this experience to buy books - on sale in pub. There's a whole chapter about the Woolpack in "Down in the Valley" & it features an artistic lithograph of the village deliberately without the pub so as not to offend patrons by having the pub obscure the church!
On 1st September 2023, a contra mundum (against the world) super-injunction was granted to the government. At the time it was discharged, midday on Tuesday 15th July 2025, it had been in effect for a little over 22 months... courtobservers.org/2025/07/23/a-c…
This is an interesting and clear blog, about how this shocking super injunction came to stay in place for so long. It raises questions about government power and the limits of parliament. It also highlights the role of the media in bringing it to public attention @DanielClark132

Unexpected literary - and gastronomic - tourism passing through the Gloucestershire village of Slad, where Laurie Lee spent much of his life. 1st pic is the memorial window in the church, the food is at his local, The Woolpack
Such a heartfelt blog. It’s clear that COP proceedings *also* happen to family members, often dragged into court proceedings and before they know it, like Amanda, they are gagged. Their experiences count too and their voice matters.
I’m finally free to say I’m a family member of a P: Does it have to be so hard to change a Transparency Order? By @AmandaAPHill openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2025/07/22/im-…

A contra mundum super-injunction is discharged after almost two years courtobservers.org/2025/07/23/a-c…
I supported @AmandaAPHill to get the COP reporting restrictions changed. It took ages. It can be hard (Amanda's was particularly challenging) but it's not impossible. Families have Article 10 rights to freedom of speech that have to be taken into account. #NotSecretCourt
I’ve written a blog about the process to change the reporting restrictions I was under ( and still am). I ask the question: does it really have to be this hard ? @OpenJusticeCoP
