College Football and College Basketball Power Ratings & Résumé Rankings | I don’t read my DMs
This is a fascinating concept! I’d probably prefer to make it a Calcutta rather than snake, but I like it
Made up a new betting game with some friends. We did a snake draft, picking 1 team from each conference. If your team makes the conference Championship you get 1 point, and 2 points if they win. Winner takes all.
You love to hear it
Any expansion of the NCAA tournaments for this season is growing more unlikely, per comments from executives, including Charlie Baker, who appeared here in DC on Thursday. “Logistics” are likely to push expansion, if adopted, to 2026-27. bit.ly/4macum2

10-2 should be enough to put Notre Dame in the CFP discussion And if the Irish start 2-0, you might just go ahead and pencil them in, as 81%* is their lowest win expectancy after Week 3 *based on v1. I still need to update the team projection graphics using v2 power ratings
Notre Dame does not need to go 11-1 to make the playoff. This is not your dad's Notre Dame schedule (no disrespect to your father) youtu.be/0444ejz3Wzs
One month from today is Farmageddon
I have Kansas State (-4) vs Iowa State For me, probably the most highly anticipated Week 0 game since Florida vs Miami in 2019
I cannot tell you how happy it makes me knowing that at least one AP voter is using objective data to help inform his ballot!🤝 Power ratings are good for the Preseason vote. But once we start playing games, I’d strongly recommend using the résumé metrics (Most Deserving, etc.)
Oh man, I already used your first version in the composite I’m using to build a pool of teams to consider for my preseason AP Top 25. I guess I need to update or at least compare for major differences.
At this point, I’m also over the schedule debate It’s 2025. We have numerous metrics* now that adjust for schedule difficulty. If we - fans, media, CFP Committee, etc - use them properly, we don’t need to have this debate *Ideally, we’d compile a handful of them to use for…
The schedule debate is so tired & played out. But when the team most would consider the 3rd or 4th best team in the Big Ten over the last 20 years is 1-24 vs AP Top 5 opponents & 4-7 vs the SEC during that time, you can miss me with the schedule conversation.
It’s variable by team! I introduced this aspect into the model in 2024 and was very pleased with the results. I’ve updated for 2025 and am anxious to see how it performs this season
Do you have a HFA number?

I don't know how I missed this. But Iowa State is a 3 point underdog vs. Kansas State in Week 0 per @CircaSports.
For more than a decade, it has felt like Memphis would/should be invited to a Power conference. It’s a bit surprising to me that it hasn’t happened yet
✍️ Sources: Memphis has tried to SMU its way into the Big 12, proposing to take no money, plus provide upwards of $200 million in sponsorships with Memphis partners like FedEx and Lowe's. But it hasn't garnered enough interest. More: nytimes.com/athletic/65056…
