Friday's thunderstorms brought a lot of lightning, but also some beneficial precipitation. The numbers show the average radar estimates within the red boxes on the map. Some of that estimate may include hail.

With 6 days left in the month, Sacramento is experiencing its coolest July since 2001 (based on the average of the high & low temperatures of the first 25 days). The city still only has 1 day above 100° this month. 4 total for the year.

We're following a fire that was first reported about an hour ago near the middle fork of the American River in El Dorado County. This is burning near Sliger Mine Rd. Currently NO evacs in place, but stay aware if you live in the area.

Minimal rain, but quite a bit of lightning with these cells that popped up QUICKLY in Yuba County. If you're in that area, let me know what you're seeing.

Starting tomorrow (7/23) the sun will rise after 6:00 am in Sacramento. We're currently losing ~90 seconds of daylight each day. That increases to more than 2 minutes per day in August, then decreases again until the equinox on 9/22.

Altocumulus, altostratus and even a little virga. Interesting sky over NorCal this evening! Clouds will keep many Valley spots in the 70s tomorrow.

We are finishing edits on our 'Danger in Plain Sight' mini-doc series. We recorded it during a week of biking around wildfire-prone parts of Los Angeles with some of my smartest wildland firefighter friends. The 5-part series will premiere on August 8th, on The Lookout YouTube…
The @kcranews weather team is forecasting a high of 78° for Sacramento tomorrow. The record *lowest* high for the date is 75°. Today barely got to 80°! Over the past 79 years, 40 have had at least 1 day < 80° at Sacramento Executive Airport including last year (7/27/24).

Posting this forecast on Sunday, JULY 20th but it could just as easily be May 20th with these numbers! Let the good times roll ☀️

What a dream this July is turning out to be! A stretch of 80s to take us through 7/25 in the Valley.

“That’s a beautiful E-bike” Started Friday with a good laugh and a great ride 🚲 ☀️
