New York State Senator in Brooklyn & Queens. Democratic socialist. Forever optimist (#LGM). For my office: @SalazarSenate.
Out at Brooklyn Housing Court today with striking @alaa2325 workers on the picket line. These legal workers do life-saving work. They deserve to be paid dignified salaries and to have more manageable case loads. We'll stand in solidarity with them until they win a fair contract.

Families in Gaza are starving. Children are dying. People searching for food are being shot. Israel is blocking aid, and over 100 humanitarian groups are sounding the alarm. The U.S. must act now to end the blockade and get life-saving aid to civilians. This is an emergency.
Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children and Oxfam International were among the 115 international aid groups that signed a statement describing food shortages in Gaza as "mass starvation," as the "Israeli government’s siege starves the people of Gaza." abcnews.link/IjBCpVy
Joined the picket line at Brooklyn Housing Court this morning with my sisters and brothers from @UAWRegion9A @alaa2325 @clswu2325. These attorneys and paralegals do frontline work protecting my constituents from eviction and deportation. They deserve a living wage!
We must pass Dignity Not Detention, NY for All and Access to Representation bills to stop this cruelty and lawlessness. I urge every elected official to use the power and privilege you have to expose what the federal government and their collaborators are doing to our people.
Since becoming a senator, I've used my legal privilege to conduct about three dozen official visits to prisons & jails (visiting some more than once). In all those visits, including to many maximum security prisons, I never faced more hostility from jail admin than I did today.
@SolagesNY and I are at East Meadow Jail right now to utilize our rights as state electeds to inspect the facility. The facility has unlawfully denied us entry, even as we handed them a copy of the law. We are working on escalating.
Your charity, your words of shock after the genocide, won’t make a difference. We will not accept your apology after the genocide. What has been done, has been done. I want you to look in the mirror, and ask: where was I when Gaza was going through a genocide?

One day, we'll think back to this moment, and we will remember what we did (or didn't do) to protect our immigrant neighbors from being kidnapped, caged, and deported en masse. As legislators, we must pass NY4All and Dignity not Detention. It's not enough, but it's a start.
Today I returned to Federal Plaza to observe court proceedings and support our neighbors attending their immigration hearings. As ever, numerous masked ICE agents filled the hall, hunting respondents, separating people from their families and communities regardless of case status
I’m running for State Senate bc the people of Corona, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst & Jackson Heights deserve leadership that listens, builds trust & delivers for Queens. I am unwavering in my values & will never stop fighting for equity, dignity & justice. ➡️ bit.ly/jgr2026
