I'm hoping that today the Lords will vote for Lord Fox's motion. We must defend both our freedom of press and our national security by ensuring that foreign states and other malicious non-state actors can't weaponise our papers as part of their war against British democracy.
Lord(Chris)Fox trenchantly sets out the case for press freedom. I will vote with him & a broad based alliance of like minded Peers @UKHouseofLords to deter what @UKParliament Intelligence & Security Committee has called penetration by the CCP into every vestige of UK life.Enough!
The Prime Minister must act with immediate airdrops of much-needed aid into Gaza and get other countries to do the same. It is simply inhumane that Gaza faces starvation due to Israel’s aid blockade. Words alone won’t save lives.
The reports of mass starvation in Gaza—affecting civilians, journalists and aid workers—are grotesque. Food is being used as a weapon of war. The Israeli Government must open the floodgates for aid and draw back its offensive. The UK must act now to stop arms sales and impose…

I have signed a letter from @OllyGloverLD to the Under Secretary of State for Future of Roads calling on the government to provide us with an update on their plan to fix the broken driving test system

Guarantee this will be met by the usual suspects with complaints about 'losing our traditions' & 'erasing our history'. It's a wax seal..... grow up!
EXCL: Government will stop using wax seals on official documents. Seals were first used by Kings 1,000 years ago and have been used by the Govt for 150 years. It will be scrapped as part of red tape slashing drive to speed up govt for taxpayers Fab story by @SophiaSleigh
Here is the first 'Josh on the Spot'! Thank you for sending in your questions last week. Whether you're intrigued by recent changes to voting laws or concerned about parking in your local area, send me a question and I'll try to answer it in next week's 'Josh on the Spot’.
Since 2022, the Lib Dems have called for OFWAT to be scrapped. In October 2024, I demanded the Secretary of State commit to replacing the regulator with one that "has some teeth". Finally, it seems the Government are listening, but much of the damage has already been done.

Great to be joined by Year 12 students at Furze Platt Senior School today in Parliament. We had a full tour around the Commons, Lords, Westminster Hall and some of the behind the scenes areas in the Palace.

Would love to know what the ‘are you sure?’ confirmation button said……

Last week after Grok's racist tirade I asked the DCMS if they are taking steps to: 'ensure that X and other social media platforms prevent their artificial intelligence systems from promoting racist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.' We need proper regulation for AI.
With the: Financial Conduct Authority, Competition and Markets Authority, Prudential Regulation Authority, Ofgem, Ofwat, Environment Agency, Regulatory Innovation Office, & Minister for Employment Rights, Competition and Markets It’s going to be an interesting Committee Meeting
Can the UK regulate for growth? ↗️ Tomorrow at 2.30pm, we're questioning @TheFCA @CMAGovUK @Ofwat @Ofgem @Justinmadders and more to explore UK regulator roles, their impact on consumers, and how regulation affects growth, investment, and government action.
Hi Maidenhead, here's a summary of what my team and I got up to last week

It was great to be back at Alwyn Infant School this week, where I attended, to speak to staff and students about my life in politics and what I do to represent Maidenhead. Thank you to all of the students who had some fantastic questions.

Got a burning question about what’s happening in Maidenhead, or an issue you care about nationally? Every week, I’ll be answering your questions – Drop your questions in the comments or send me a DM and I’ll try to answer them!

Pleased to meet with Harvey and Miriam from @HepatitisCTrust in Parliament this morning to learn more about their mission to eliminate Hepatitis C from the UK by 2030 and celebrate their progress so far.

The largest house builders in the UK get investigated for colluding, sharing details about sales, pricing, number of viewings & incentives. They have combined profits of over £1billion a year. They are fined £100m & told to not do it again The CMA are just a paper tiger…..
Seven volume house-builders agree to give £100m to government to settle anti-competitive probe by The Competition and Markets Authority. The money will go towards affordable housing. So that’s all right then. Nothing to see here. Shush. londonstockexchange.com/news-article/B…
Disappointed Tory MPs didn’t turn up for our vote on free to air Premier League games amendment today. This is a longstanding @LibDems policy, I was glad to be supporting.
🚨 NEW: MPs have voted against allowing 10 Premier League games to be broadcast for free Ayes - 86 Noes - 340
