When property was first taxed thousands of years ago, the property tax was more of an income tax. It taxed what the land produced. Our homestead properties are no longer used for producing income and therefore should not be taxed in that manner.
Thank you @KevinGuthrieFL! When it comes to navigating emergencies and keeping people safe, there’s nobody you’d rather have at the helm.
Thank you for all you do!
Meanwhile in Florida, I (and many others in the legislature) support the abolition of TAXES on private property.
Oh look, yet another video of Comrade Zohran saying he wants "abolition of private property" as NYC mayor notthebee.com/article/heres-…
The C-43 Reservoir will do more for District 33 (Lee County) than any individual project. Without @GovRonDeSantis listening to the local experts and government officials in SWFL after winning his election in 2018, this 55 billion gallon facility would be years (if not decades)…

If we replaced property tax with a revenue neutral sales tax, people who never directly paid a property tax might think their taxes increased. However, they'd no longer be paying the EMBEDDED property that is built into their rent or other consumer good.
The same ACLU that posted on their website that forced 💉 protected everyone’s civil liberties 😂
The ACLU is mad. This is how you know @GovRonDeSantis is winning.
Glad we got this bill passed. Tracking people without their consent is a crime as it violates their privacy and dignity.
Shoutout to @JonMartinEsq for making this a crime
Alligator Alcatraz is not the Four Seasons. It’s a facility that, while satisfying federal standards, is the last stop before executing final orders of removal for illegal aliens. @realDonaldTrump @GovRonDeSantis @JamesUthmeierFL @KevinGuthrieFL
Tonight, I joined Jesse Watters on Fox News to discuss Alligator Alcatraz.
In 2024, Floridians paid $56 Billion to their counties for property taxes. That is $2,400 per PERSON. A family of 4 on average paid $10,000 last year for property taxes.
Being able to write off insane amounts of gambling debt while not allowing taxpayers to write off their student loan PAYMENTS is wild. In America, you can’t write off more than $2500 in student loan interest per tax return (marriage penalty prevents even that small deduction if…
Laws without enforcement mechanisms are just resolutions. We put the enforceable laws in place a few months ago and we are a SAFER state because of it.
Great to see the City of Key West heeding our warning and reversing course by reinstating their participation in ICE’s 287(g) program. Florida requires cities to commit best efforts to help the Trump administration enforce immigration law, and Floridians expect nothing less!
The logic checks out.
I don't know if there's an Epstein client list. We were told it was being released just before we were told it doesn't exist. It's possible it never existed, but it isn't possible that we were never lied to.
Imagine a $700,000 homestead exemption. Thats the equivalent of what existed in 1934 when our property tax collections were moved to the cities and counties.
A $5,000 homestead exemption on property value was created in Florida when the tax moved from state to local (in 1934). The median home price in Florida (in 1930) was $2,896. Currently the median home price in Florida is $410,600 and the homestead exemption is up to $50,000.
Every tax is imbedded in the final cost of goods and services you purchase. Even if you don't pay a sales tax, the food at the grocery store, for example, has multiple taxes imbedded in the final purchase price: 1. Property Tax on the grocery store and all property the food was…
Do you know Florida taxpayers spend $500 million dollars EVERY SINGLE YEAR to run all of our property appraisers offices across 67 counties?
Let's get this done! Do you know that the State of Florida collects over $45 billion dollars a year in sales tax and our 67 counties collect a combined total of $55 billion in ad valorem (value based) property taxes (2024)?
Rep. Chamberlin and Sen. Martin: Florida doesn’t need a $1M study to kill property tax flvoicenews.com/chamberlin-and…
The safety and security of our students and staff are our top priority. Our $2.9 million to further fortify our schools has been approved. Thank you to @jenna_persons , Tiffany Esposito, and @JonMartinEsq for supporting the appropriation and @GovRonDeSantis for his approval.
I stand by what I said on the floor. It would be a disservice for those walking through those doors to get treatment and not see Sen. Rousons name on the building reminding them that they too can rise above their addiction.
.@GovRonDeSantis announced @USouthFlorida drug research center will be named for @darrylrouson after deal with @USF and @FLSenate. "They were trying to get this into into statute, and there was a little bit of a hiccup on that, but, you know, it was a period, a lot of hiccups"...
