I have a personal stake in anti-tipping discourse because I recently had to wait while some old POS harangued an overworked cashier about where exactly his tip money would be going, while orders piled up and a long line waited behind him.
This is true, in as much as MAHA means “a scam to rip off gullible people and convince them you’re doing something in their name while you actually gut every system and safeguard we have for meaningful health and safety.”
MAHA is winning.

No it won’t because everyone on the Right already believes Russiagate was a scam, besides which it’s boring and confusing to people, whereas Epstein-Trump is salacious and exciting and cuts to the core of the Right/MAGA identity.

This captures something essential in grievance politics: it’s not about being able to do what you want, it’s about ensuring other people feel a certain way about you when you do what you want. It doesn’t work that way!
I always feel like a sociopath when I select "no tip" after buying, say, a $7 coffee. I should not feel that way. Someone took my money for a drink I already paid too much for, poured liquid in a cup, and handed it to me. Why is a tip merited there? What are we doing here?
