If you want to make smarter moves in tech, AI, and innovation — I share strategy, context, and opportunities for builders & deep thinkers. 👇 Here's what I do, where to find me, and what to expect:
Our new paper is out in PNAS: "Evolving general cooperation with a Bayesian theory of mind"! Humans are the ultimate cooperators. We coordinate on a scale and scope no other species (nor AI) can match. What makes this possible? 🧵
I remember when airstrikes on data centers were seem as insane. Former google founder: We need to have a way to ensure mutually assured destruction to preserve humanity. Three-body vibes. A Grim Trigger is needed.
Eric Schmidt says he's read the AI 2027 scenario forecast about what the development of superintelligence might look like. He says the "right outcome" will be some form of deterrence and mutually assured destruction, adding that government should know where all the chips are.
"You can make the future, but it starts with leavin' the past" I'm all for the reality, sobriety, and necessity of connecting the present to the future and the past. But sometimes, it's about leaving it - whether in ignorance, or knowingly.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but here goes. I apologize to all those who have sent me your life's work and didn't get a reply. Believe me, I know what it's like to dedicate oneself to a set of ideas, and pour all of one's blood, sweat, and tears into it. I know all about…

Being a startup founder - attempting to build an impactful/unicorn tech company - is akin to training for an Olympic medal. To have a chance, you must be very talented, and you better be obsessed and willing to focus on it above all else. It’s about as rare as winning a medal.
The romanticization of being a startup founder is kind of insane to me: – You’re statistically unlikely to succeed – You’ll have no life and be totally consumed - Incredible lows – You’re locking yourself in for 10+ years This is insanely hard and NOT for everyone.
For history to steer the future, we will have to not overlook the unpleasant things that happened, and what course were not taken -- and what was not centered due to the path dependency of the choices and implementations that were made. cc #FrontierMap @JOPRO_org
The long awaited Language talk Wish is was there IRL, looking forward to catching up w @ebarenholtz @will_Kahn at @TOEwithCurt @UofT Cc @ekkolapto @CognitionFuture @JOPRO_org
It's up! My @TOEwithCurt interview at U. of Toronto. Together with @will_hahn, I discuss the unsettling idea that LLMs show that language runs in us. And runs us. Installed before consent. youtu.be/Ca_RbPXraDE?si… Thanks to @ekkolapto for another incredible event.

The orgs most responsible for deploying AI in unsafe ways are also the loudest when it comes to talking about AI safety, and they focus the discourse not on actual AI-linked risks (bias, IP theft, worker disempowerment, deep fakes...), but on imaginary ones (SkyNet). Distraction?
