My lab was totally destroyed tonight by an Iranian missile. Nobody was hurt. Flies, plasmids, cells, equipment - all gone. Heart breaking. If during the course of the past 16 years, you have received something from my lab - please keep them safe.
I have seen folks waste so much time by not properly planning research. Missed literature, missing controls, ignored hypotheses, etc. Lack of planning also produces bad science (e.g. analysis until significant). So I am writing an app. Looking for feedback.…
great thread overall, but particularly agree with this point that paper should be partly evaluated based on how easy it is to understand them (some conferences have "clarity", which I think is the same but controlling a bit for the complexity of the topic)
2. "Simplicity": is the paper easy to understand or is it more complicated than needed? We should explicitly ask reviewers to praise contributions that are easy to understand. Our current system penalizes simplicity in rewards unwarranted complexity..

EXCLUSIVE: The Trump administration is discussing plans to try to block certain colleges from having any foreign students if it decides too many are "pro-Hamas," senior Justice and State Department officials tell @MarcACaputo. trib.al/eu0GmCW

If you are a neuroscientist working in pretty much any area you definitely need the content of the CN course, and for many corners of neuro you also need the content of the DL course. Both of which are particularly true if you are an experimentalist.

Sam Gershman writes beautifully about how theory-free neuroscience prevents the field from reaching its promise. Beautiful and true. Most folks do not test hypotheses. Running a NHST does not a hypothesis make. thetransmitter.org/theoretical-ne…

It's really cool that Tom Brady got to be there for the Eagles' two Super Bowl wins! He might be a good luck charm. Have a great night!
