The Guangzhou Metro expanded again! I wrote a longform post on some of my personal thoughts, experiences and background with a bunch of new metro extensions that opened on June 2025 in Guangzhou. Lots of pictures and video for your enjoyment! Link in next post:

Both Changxing Bridge main towers have topped out today. The Changxing Bridge carries 160kph regional rail trains on the Rudong-Nantong-Suzhou-Huzhou railway over a shipping canal using a 240m long cable stayed main span. Some regional trains on this line will head to Shanghai.




Incorrect. The Shanghai Metro is 808km long not 896km. Also more egregiously, the Shanghai Metro does not have 416km of metro under construction today, Shanghai currently only has 237km of new metro length under construction.

Shenzhen Metro Line 6 Phase 2 and Line 16 Phase 2 getting ready for opening this year.




Shanghai Metro recently put out two tenders for Line 16: 1) for 6 more 6 car Type A trainsets and 2) a separate tender to optimize its Urbalis888 CBTC system to improve express services and allow for coupling and uncoupling of 3 car sets at stations during revenue service.
