It doesn’t absolve them if you make the connection that the bad institutions were created or shaped by colonialism
Blaming colonialism is, in developing countries, an excuse. It absolves bad politicians and bad institutions now. It inculcates pessimism and quitting. Whether or not it is true, it is an extremely harmful attitude to have.
Yes, I suppose you could call the U.S. selecting and clandestinely funding their government’s ruling party, controlling their airspace and central bank, and occupying their country with 50,000 troops a kind of innovation. That’s not quite what I’d call it, though
Don’t bet against the US. Innovation, free market and truly entrepreneurial spirit always win in the long run. Others simply come and go.
