Well, I was part of the HuffPost layoffs today. It's a bad beat, but very grateful for the last 2.5 years here. If you're looking for an econ policy/Cap Hill reporter with lots of budget and reconciliation experience, I'm your guy. Let's chat: [email protected]
One of the reasons (aside from the constitution) elections are on hold in Ukraine is the danger of polling places being targeted by Russia. The sheer courage to demonstrate publicly under these conditions, much less for specific aspect of the federal government...
Large protest in Kyiv tonight, the first signs of public dissent against Zelenskyy’s government since the full scale invasion, as demonstrators rally against the passing of a bill stripping anti-corruption bodies of their powers
Tired: GOP motions to recommit involving gun control when Dems ran the House Wired: Dem motions to recommit involving Epstein when GOP runs the House
Who says they won't have an Epstein resolution ride on the next CR to grease it?
This is actually pretty huge for one of the largest tribal nations in the US. (Disclosure: my tribe)
I CANT STOP CRYING. THIS IS JUSTICE. IT IS AFFIRMED #WeAreMvskoke #Freedmen
Zelenskyy realizes the optics of people coming out to protest legislation he rushed through parliament by gathering in mass public demonstrations vulnerable to Russian attacks are not good. Neither domestically and certainly not internationally.
Signaling a possible concession, President Zelensky announced he will propose a bill to Parliament in response to recent criticism, aiming to strengthen law enforcement and boost the independence of anti-corruption agencies. While this offers hope to many, skepticism remains
Trump was on a "Jay Powell can serve out his Fed chairmanship" zag of his zig-zag pattern of pronouncements yesterday. Reminder: Powell can still lead the rate-setting FOMC without being Fed chair. Procedurally, it wouldn't even be that hard. jonathannicholson.substack.com/p/getting-rid-…
Finally found a way to avoid being asked about throwing people off of Medicaid to partially pay for giving tax breaks to the rich during August recess.
Breaking News: Speaker Mike Johnson said he would shut down the House until September to block a vote on calling for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. nyti.ms/4nZtblR
Embrace non-decennial Census redistricting and gerrymander the congressional map even further or watch Republicans cheat to avoid losing the House as is usual in first midterms? Life is nothing but repeating the climactic scene from "Man of Steel" for Democrats these days.
To catch everyone up: Jerome Powell is still where he was, Ozzy Osbourne is not.
Every tinpot leader of an East European country or former Soviet republic ending in "stan" right now: Dude, you gotta be more subtle. Seriously.
Trump: “It's time to go after people. Obama's been caught directly…He's guilty. This was treason.”
Ohhhh, *THAT* Ghislaine Maxwell... (When Trump doubled down on his "I wish her well" comment)
"I'm not looking for anything bad for her," Trump notes, while also stating that we need to let the criminal process play out. It's classic Trump - he's always sympathizing with the plight of criminals & never pre-judges their cases. Here's the full transcript. It's something.
To be clear, the Speaker, a self-professed proud evangelical Christian, is saying he's more tempted to "speak evil" of a fellow Republican causing him political issues than one who wrote he had "a lot in common" with Epstein, bragged about grabbing women by the vagina and curses.
Speaker Johnson on Thomas Massie and his discharge petition to release the Epstein files: I try to never speak evil of another Republican. My gosh it’s hard to do sometimes.. I also try to follow the scripture. It says bless those who persecute you.. bless his heart
OK, so Trump posting "jail my political enemies!" memes, asking for racial slur sports mascot names to be reinstated, Tulsi rehashing 2016. That should all surely be enough to knock ol' Epstein off the Twitter tren-- oh.

If you are going to write about the Fed -- and really, after pulling off an unheard of soft landing, there really isn't much reason to -- you need to let your readers/viewers know it doesn't receive a DIME of taxpayer money, which is needed context amid coming ginned up outrage.
This is how they will be able to better target the distribution of chemtrails and fluoride, folks.
House is about to vote on creating a whole bunch of new zip codes. docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/…
One little-noticed side effect of Trump's push to get the tax- and spending-cut bill across the finish line ahead of the debt limit beginning to bite was to ensure the record $5 trillion hike in it happened on the Fourth of July. It's now $41.1 trillion.

Gonna need an @MEPFuller ruling on this...

"Community funded projects" are more well known as "earmarks " If you had told me only a few years ago the chair of the House Folding Caucus would be "and let's save earmarks...."
..". It keeps spending at current levels. Doesn't increase spending. Just get it all over with. Just do a full year on CR. And I personally think that you could put the community funded community project funded projects in it. You could do that." 2/2
