Former house hacker turned Multi-Family developer: 8-units under construction 🏗 59-units pending city approvals 📋 48-units in design phase ✏️
Theres no way this is more than 50 years old. We all know modern code and 5 year planning cycles are the only thing keeping buildings from falling over!
I Would Watch a 50hr Documentary on How They Built This 1500 Years Ago…
8 Unit Update: With new HVAC plans in hand we got our permit finaled! Now to close out the rest of our COO items! SO CLOSE!
How do we know if these guys are doing their job? It sure doesn't feel like LADBS is here to help me do anything. They fight me on everything and take 0 responsibility. Literally 0. If the building falls over, they don't go to jail. They don't go bankrupt. They don't loose…

59 Unit Update: We got all of our clearances, but our building has changed so much since we started, our plan checker asked us to submit a supplemental plan check so that he doesn't get in trouble for taking so long to review it. 😩
California has the highest housing costs in the US because our regulations—including zoning—make it impossible for to build. I'd think this is an argument Republicans should connect with, yet here's a prominent GOP candidate slamming a bill to restore property rights. Huh?
Under Senate Bill 79, any single-family home within half a mile of transit could be bulldozed for apartments. @Susan_Shelley explains what this means for our neighborhoods:
Ever wonder why developers build the same ugly boxes? Because someone in the city approved it and now that's the design that you can submit and get approved by pointing and saying "hey you approved the same look over there!"
I'm trying to build a cottage court. So far I've been told that the city doesn't want it it to stand out and it should match the neighboring homes. I don't want to match the neighboring homes.... 😭😭😭
Ever want to be a real estate developer in California? Get excited, come up with a vision, share it, throw it away and start over 🤣 Is there anywhere where people just build cool stuff?
what is even the point of Building Plan Check if cities and inspectors aren't liable for construction defects or code compliance
I dont know who this guy is, but I think he gets me.
The permitting process for people wanting to rebuild their homes after the fires has been such a headache & John realized that one of the issues causing the headache is this grading permit people need to get Fox News reporter Raymond Arroyo spoke to a resident about it @KFIAM640
6 months late? Theres already a public library of code compliant pre-approved plans. CA also requires cities to provide Type V sheets for single story homes so you dont even need an architect or engineer and you can build it yourself. Im so upset by the lack of action. What…
Today, I signed two executive actions to streamline permitting and launch a public-facing, virtual library of pre-approved, code-compliant designs to fast-track home construction projects. We will continue to take action to help all Angelenos rebuild. mayor.lacity.gov/news/mayor-bas…
This is why I no longer am that excited about new laws. Theres always some plank that gets stepped on and smacks me right in the face.
I am tied of killing SB1123 dreams. Never seems to work. Fire zone. Lot too small. Equine area. Too little Height. Not vacant. A RHNA unit etc … I am throwing my lot in with AB647 - 8 units (1 LI) - but much cleaner. More height and FAR and fewer disqualifies than SB1123.
