Doctoral student, Cerebral Palsy and other stuff. I talk about education, but also MAiD. I’m not for everyone, and that’s ok.
It's not too late for @Dave_Eby to do the right thing. We are all still watching and hoping he does.
Update: Premier David Eby says “the door is always open if there’s additional evidence…” in the case of Charleigh Pollock. Wow. This tone is one that is very different from the “final decision” tone we heard June 18th. Asked whether she should have her medicine funding…
Conservative Canadians suddenly extremely interested in contemporary gospel.
Great read for today authored in part by @igrantubc Canada’s sexual-assault law is not the problem - it’s the application of it - The Globe and Mail archive.ph/2025.07.23-214…
READ THIS Is Canada's sexual assault law in need of reform? "It’s not the law that repeatedly falls short, but rather those in the justice system who sometimes fail to apply it." @igrantubc, Elizabeth Sheehy & Janine Benedet. 💯🔥 archive.ph/bsqVd#selectio…
Seclusion rooms don't make schools safe and they are not research-backed. They are more used for discipline and punishment instead of "safety," targeting the most vulnerable students. We must put an end to this practice. theconversation.com/seclusion-room…
Really recommend watching this clip of Pierre Poilievre. Some solid disability policy ideas. As friend just pointed out, no one else - not Liberals, not NDP - is even talking about this stuff. It's a wide open net. instagram.com/reel/DMWe6c8ue…
More than a dozen U.S. doctors have written a joint letter to Premier David Eby and B.C. Health Minister Josie Osborne, urging them to reconsider the withdrawal of funding for a life-altering drug for a 10-year-old girl with a rare disease. vancouver.citynews.ca/2025/07/17/u-s…
NEW - 13 expert U.S. doctors in Batten Disease have written a joint letter to @Josie_Osborne @Dave_Eby saying gov is using the wrong scoring, science and evaluation to discontinue Brineura for Charleigh Pollock. Doctors from hospitals in New York, Columbus, Baltimore, Denver,…
"None of those so-called [BC] experts were involved in any of the research, and they're not known to any of the Batten disease community," said Whiteman, head researcher for the Batten Disease Support and Research Association in the U.S. and Australia.” 1/ digitaltimescolonist.pressreader.com/article/281492…
New post by @mssinenomine
Someone was very upset about my use of the quote about cruelty in my tweet about Charleigh Pollock & upon reflection I decided to write about my choice. open.substack.com/pub/mssinenomi…
Unbelievable… @Josie_Osborne just rejected life-saving treatment for 10-year-old Charleigh again—dismissing new expert evidence her family fought to bring forward. This government is hiding behind bureaucracy while a child’s health deteriorates. Shameful #SaveCharleigh #bcpoli
NEW - @Josie_Osborne again refuses to restore medication to 10-yr-old Charleigh Pollock, in a statement saying that the new evidence her family/experts brought forward had been considered by the Canada Drug Agency and doesn't change their recommendations.
I wish Ozzy Osbourne well which is a lot more than he wished for 12 year old Tracy Latimer when he wrote a song claiming her murderer was acting out of love by killing her for being disabled.
Thank you for your voicing your support for Charleigh Pollock @ElizabethMay and for breaking past the govt denial that this is about cost not science. "Imagine if the drug was 50 cents, do you think they [the govt] would be saying there's an efficacy problem?"
Great to have Elizabeth May on the show today to hear her position on access to medicine for 10yr old Charleigh Pollock! #bcpoli #cdnpoli
I don’t think this will be the last time that @mssinenomine and me collaborate on something like this. Have a read - hope you like it.
.@JHallinPeel and I collaborated to co-write this post. We felt the need to respond to the editorial endorsing govt and attacking supporters of Charleigh Pollock in today's Times Columnist. Appreciate if you would read and share. open.substack.com/pub/mssinenomi…
My dtr, now 22, had a life expectancy of 1 year at birth. She used to go to Children’s Hospital twice a year for IV medication intended to reduce suffering and pain, not extend her life. Let’s not pretend this decision is based on anything other than the cost of the medication
Not a good sign: BC Health Minister Josie Osborne answers a question about Charleigh Pollock and details around the decision to defund her expensive medicine. Her response doesn’t sound promising… #bcpoli
