As the 18th day of the ongoing excavations at Chemmani mass grave in Jaffna concluded for Wednesday (23), the ever staggering body count stood at 85 with five more human remains unearthed during the day.
After inspecting the de-mining site in Sampur where human remains were found 3 days ago, Magistrate of Muttur Ms H.M.T. Fowsan, on Wednesday (23), instructed judicial medical officer, Dept. of Archaeology & officials of Mine Advisory Group to submit 2 separate reports by July 30.

NOW: Riot police squads deployed in Colombo Fort prevented the protestors proceeding towards Sri Lanka's Presidential Secretariat as they tried to march demanding justice for the mass grave victims, recently exhumed in Chemmani, Jaffna.
NOW: Social activists & human rights defenders have gathered in front of Fort Railway Station in Colombo, to demand justice for the victims of state crimes, including those found in Chemmani mass grave in Jaffna, where at least 63 skeletal remains were exhumed recently.
If the police have said they have nothing on him, why has he only been released on bail??? Why are Magistrates so reluctant to discharge??

Sri Lanka's counter terrorism police have summoned Tamil activist & @TnpfOrg member K. Sinthujan (35) of Trincomalee to present himself at CTID office on Tuesday (15) for an inquiry about an event organised in memory of Thileepan in 2023, which was attacked by Sinhala extremists.

1. On 23 Oct. 2024, Mohamed Shuhail Mohamed Rifai (21), a resident of Mawanella, who was following an Airline Cabin Crew course in Colombo was arrested by officers attached to Dehiwala police for not having a national ID in his possession, while he's looking for a room to rent.
