How many Bengali migrants need to tell you that they heard us speaking Bangla and picked us up before you can admit that language/ethnicity is very much a factor? And how many Dalits need to be sent notices before you recognise what's going on?
They are not targeting Bengalis, they are targeting Muslims. Bangladeshi, Bengali, Rohingya, or any other name is coincidental.
Completely agree. But, count on the large majority of the well-to-do bongs to look the other way when the needy really needs us.
Privileged Bengalis who flex machher jhol egg roll and football in the name of Bengali identity now need to speak out against the crack down on Bengali migrants. This is an attack on the Bengali identity too and we cannot let the most vulnerable among us bear the brunt of it

An appeal to folks on this platform…pls consider supporting grassroots mutual aid work regularly in Palestine, Congo and Sudan. I recommend @congofriends and @sameerproject and @sdnsolidarity but there are so many others too! $10 a month goes a long way. Bcm a monthly donor.

Hunger was gnawing at Mira's body every moment, as if time had stopped to witness her suffering. Flour prices rose, crossings were closed, and getting food became like a distant dream. We spent entire days without food, and whenever she looked at me, her words would pierce my…
Mira can no longer distinguish between night and day. Hunger gnaws at her small body. The price of flour has risen, the crossings are closed, life has ceased, and it has become difficult to obtain food. We spent days without food, and Mira cries and says, "I am hungry." Mira…
Children who are malnutritioned are relying on small packets of nutritional supplement nut butter for caloric intake. This is also true for older teens and young adults who have disabilities and cannot chew or digest food. chuffed.org/project/136892… The Sameer Project recently…
After 21 months of a live-streamed genocide. No shame.

This - how can an issue which affects the lives, liberty and livelihoods of 1000s of the poorest be reduced to a garbage collection problem? What is wrong with us?
1000s of migrant workers are fleeing the city. They are going back to Assam and West Bengal. Police say they are not being detained but just held in “holding centres.” Somehow, “Gurugram city is getting dirty” gets more media attention and public outrage.
A clear countrywide pattern has emerged: the BJP gov is arbitrarily picking up & detaining working class Bengali Muslims on charges of being 'illegal Bangladeshis' *despite them producing ID proof*. Imp story by @alishan_jafri & Shruti Sharma. thewire.in/rights/gurugra…
It's available on Amazon India too, of course. But if at all possible, I recommend using any other retailer or bookstore (if your local store or library don't have it, you can ask them to get it, and I urge you to do so if you want to read the book): amazon.in/Last-Dragoners…

Apt that corporations/governments divided the internet into SFW and NSFW & are now making it all Safe For Work, because that's the frame they want to place on the world--everywhere you go is for Work, not pleasure or art or love or culture. You must always Work for Them, or die.
