btw my update on this is not to use RAG anymore for code generation. new models are great. feed them the repo tree or a compact AST, skip the retrieval glue and the results will be much better. RAG still wins most non-coding enterprise usecases though.
Code generation RAGs are a whole different ball game. I've been dabbling with a POC at work for a couple of days now, I think my chunking strategies (RCTS, Agentic LLM), that typically work very well with natural language, aren't fit for code. I'm all ears for suggestions.
