'So, I encourage you to read the parables of Jesus. Just take them one at a time, with your eyes and ears open to see and listen, and to be surprised by what God might be saying to you through them.' imaherblog.wordpress.com/2025/07/23/theโฆ via @IanMaher7
What Ed says
Mass starvation in Gaza and over 1,000 Palestinians killed while seeking aid since May. The government says the situation is intolerable yet they continue to tolerate it. The UK needs to stop all arms exports to the Israeli Government - today.
The IDF are still using starvation as a weapon. #WarCrime
How much longer bedore the world ACTS? The Israeli blockade is starving children to death. BBC News - bbc.co.uk/news/live/cvg9โฆ Gaza hospital says 21 children dead from malnutrition in 72 hours as UN warns 'last lifelines collapsing' - BBC News
"There is no case since WW2 of starvation that has been so minutely designed and controlled" Famine expert Alex de Waal on Israel deliberately starving an entire civilian population

Absolutely appalling testimony from Surgeon Nick Maynard of shootings, malnutrition and other evils being inflicted on people in Gaza, amongst whom he is working. There must be a #CeasefireNow, for Godโs sake, for humanityโs sake.
โTeenagers being shot by Israeli soldiers.โ Nick Maynard is a British gastrointestinal surgeon, who is currently in Gaza, working at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.ย We began by asking him what he can tell us about the shootings near the aid distribution sites this morning.
"The world can't take it anymore," Pope Leo condemns Israel's deadly military attack on the only Catholic Church in Gaza, calling for an end to the "barbarity." Full story: ow.ly/IkBM50Wsj83 (CNS photos/Vatican Media)
This evening, 56 years after the Apollo 11 moon landing, I spoke with the astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Together we shared the memory of a historic feat, a testimony to human ingenuity, and we reflected on the mystery and greatness of Creation.
In today's #GospelOfTheDay (Lk 10:38-42) Jesus is a guest at the house of Martha and Mary. One of the sisters welcomes him with much attention, while the other listens to him while sitting at his feet. Service and listening are twin dimensions of welcome. vatican.va/content/leo-xiโฆ
'Yet through it all, the risen Jesus is present with us, longing to help us carry whatever load we must bear. Whatever it is, the Lordโs shoulders are broad enough.' imaherblog.wordpress.com/2025/07/16/leaโฆ via @IanMaher7
โI have no ideological position on this conflict. I approach it simply as a lawyer and a historian. But I sometimes wonder what Israelโs defenders would regard as unacceptable, if the current level of Israeli violence in Gaza is not enough. This is not self-defence. It is notโฆ
There is no water shortage in the UK. Just a shortage of water management. They want the public to be responsible for managing water rather than doing the job they are very well paid to do.
Since the privatisation of water, not a single English reservoir has been built. Indeed, since privatisation 25 of them have been sold-off for shareholder profit. You couldnโt make this stuff up.
'We must keep in mind that we are, essentially, sharing our personal experience when talking about Jesus to others, and not seeking to win an argument. How that is received is in their hands, not ours.' imaherblog.wordpress.com/2025/07/09/be-โฆ via @IanMaher7
I've long called for a wealth tax - and itโs great to see support for it growing stronger by the day. A 2% Wealth Tax on assets over ยฃ10 Million would raise ยฃ24 BILLION per year The public backs a Wealth Tax. Let's step up our campaigning to get the Government to introduce one!

Around 400 Palestinians, including dozens of children, have been killed while trying to get humanitarian assistance. I donโt recall these incidents (including this weekend) leading many papers or news bulletins. Are we really saying a few chants from a couple of musicians is moreโฆ
I understand the media outrage about the encouragement of death chants towards the IDF at Glastonbury, I really do, but where is the outrage about the death and destruction being wrought by the IDF in Gaza? (I also condemn utterly the murder and hostage-taking of October 7).
It is disheartening to see today that the strength of international law and humanitarian law no longer seems binding, replaced by the presumed right to overpower others. This is unworthy and shameful for humanity and for the leaders of nations.
