For every politician and journalist who supported Israel's onslaught, or stayed silent: This photograph should haunt you for the rest of your life. You will never scrub the shame away. No future achievement, however great, will ever erase what you helped inflict on Gaza.
The new Media Alert from @medialens: 'The BBC isn’t ‘failing’. It is doing precisely what it was set up to do: namely, act as a mouthpiece for establishment power and as an enabler of state crimes' medialens.org/2025/burying-g…

David Lammy says it would be wholly inappropriate for the British public to know if US nuclear weapons are now stationed on UK soil.

Very happy to contribute a comment for this excellent piece by @IanJSinclair that explains how 'most of the best books, according to the Guardian, just happen to be the same books heavily promoted by the Big Five [publishers] and corporate bookstores'. morningstaronline.co.uk/article/how-gu…
Utterly damning. Please watch and share this.
"There is no case since WW2 of starvation that has been so minutely designed and controlled" Famine expert Alex de Waal on Israel deliberately starving an entire civilian population
Kit Malthouse to Lammy "can he not see his inaction & cowardice is making this country irrelevant? Can he also not see the personal risk to him, given our intl obligations, that he may end up at the Hague because of his inaction?" Lammy tells Malthouse his language is unbecoming
"We are not assisting... in the prosecution of this war in Gaza. We are not doing that and we would never do that." - UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, BBC Today Programme, 22 July 2025 @medialens @markcurtis30 @kennardmatt
"At the very time we are in desperate need of radical thinking and root and branch change, we have a press that that promotes an ideologically narrow range of books and authors" - my new article morningstaronline.co.uk/article/how-gu… @stillawake @IainMunro548186
"Can it really be the case that out of the tens of thousands of English language books published each year, most of the best books, according to the Guardian, just happen to be the same books heavily promoted by the Big Five and corporate bookstores?" morningstaronline.co.uk/article/how-gu…
Rachel Cunliffe, associate political editor of the New Statesman, agrees with Tory MP Jack Rankin that the UK govt recognising the state of Palestine rewards terrorism. The New Statesman calls itself the leading progressive political magazine in the UK.
As I say, this from @BenEhrenreich is an important read about violent + nonviolent resistance in Palestine. However, it seems to make a basic error about how nonviolent resistance works - by moving "people of conscience to act". Not true harpers.org/archive/2025/0… @SZunes @wagingnv

The logical endpoint of @Keir_Starmer’s deep commitment to supporting Israeli genocide is where we are now, with génocidaires from the IDF and Israeli government welcomed and fêted, whilst peace-loving grannies are arrested as “terrorists.” The shame of this will live in infamy.
"Many of them.. with hand written placards, you can see one of the police officers holding one, it says 'I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action" As @NickJBBC reports we watch two brave Met police officers leading one of the dangerous protesters away.
Really interesting long read in @Harpers from @BenEhrenreich on how the increasing repression in the West Bank is leading more Palestinians to violence harpers.org/archive/2025/0…
