Making migration work for all
In Jalal-Abad, southern Kyrgyzstan, a returned migrant worker Aiperi launched a workshop producing kurut, a traditional Kyrgyz snack made from dried yogurt. With support from @noradno & @IOMKyrgyzstan she is creating jobs and exploring global markets!
In Jashtyk, a small village in southern Kyrgyzstan, returned migrant worker Barchynai is stitching together a brighter future for her community. With support from @noradno and @IOMKyrgyzstan she opened a sewing workshop, offering employment to another local woman!
This week, @IOMchief visited the Kyrgyz Republic to strengthen #migration partnerships. She met with top officials, partners, and civil society, and opened a new center for migrant reintegration and skills validation.
We are honored to have hosted @IOMChief during her first official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic! Grateful for her outstanding leadership and commitment to making sure #migration is safe, regular, and rooted in dignity for every #Kyrgyz citizen!
Together w/Kyrgyz leaders, we opened a new orientation & reintegration center, including a kitchen for certifying culinary skills! Practical resources help migrants prepare to work abroad & maximize skills when they get home. Grateful support from #SwissEmbassyKG @SwissMFA.
Pleased to speak with H.E. Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev about advancing Kyrgyz Republic’s migration priorities. From reintegration to protection and data, IOM is proud to support national efforts that turn migration into progress for all.
Grateful to Bubusara Ryskulova, the head of Bishkek's Sezim Crisis Center, for sharing her insights on how we can best support survivors of gender-based violence and human trafficking in Kyrgyzstan. Strong civil society partnerships are key to protecting the most vulnerable.
Honored to meet with H.E. Zheenbek Kulubaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic today. We share a commitment to safe, orderly, and regular migration that supports both national development and migrant rights.
