@IOMchief
Director General of @UNmigration (IOM). We work to promote safe, orderly, and regular migration.
Migration is human. And when well managed, it’s a force for good. 122 million people displaced by conflict, poverty, and climate breakdown. How we manage it, how we protect people, stabilize communities, and offer real solutions for a world on the move, is up to us!
From Micronesia to Bangladesh to Chad, IOM has worked with gov'ts worldwide on dozens of @WorldBank-funded projects. Great to meet today with @bjerde_anna about how we can collaborate further, anticipating and address displacement and helping to create jobs around the world.

Wonderful to talk with the @UNMigration Washington DC team today. This team is IOM's key connection point not just for the U.S. government, but also for U.S.-funded programs around the world. Thank you for all you do! 🇺🇸

Grateful for @Qatar_fund’s commitment to resilience and recovery in Syria, Lebanon, and other critical migration routes. Partnerships like this show what’s possible when we put dignity first and work together for durable solutions. Every return home is a step toward stability.

In New York this week to deepen IOM’s partnerships and meet the IOM team working year-round on expanding them. At a time of global challenge, multilateral cooperation is not a luxury, it’s essential. Together, we are building safe pathways and protecting dignity.

The Netherlands continues to show what principled partnership looks like. From UN reform to safe returns and humanitarian response, IOM values your leadership in ensuring migration works for people and communities.

Migration is a global reality & the Global Compact gives us a practical, principled roadmap for making it safer for all. Grateful to @CanadaUN @EcuadorONU for convening GCM Champions. With your leadership, we’re turning commitment into action ahead of Int Migration Review Forum.

Energized by yesterday’s discussion in NYC with private sector leaders, exploring bold, collaborative solutions to the world’s most urgent humanitarian challenges. Grateful to partner with @USAforIOM to connect impact-driven leaders.

Grateful for powerful exchanges this week with the EU and Denmark in New York. Together, we're driving people-centered migration governance, grounded in rights, rooted in solidarity, and backed by flexible, forward-looking support. Real solutions. Shared values.

Great dialogue in New York with Member States and humanitarian partners about life-saving aid for people in crises, and the need for long-term solutions for those displaced. Thank you @BelgiumUN for hosting and convening.

A meaningful exchange with H.E. Dame @BWoodward_UN of @UKUN_NewYork. We had a great discussion about how the drivers of migration are relevant to key Security Council discussions. The UK is a key partner for IOM's people-centered solutions.

Appreciated rich exchanges with Iraq and Bahrain, two key partners advancing rights-based migration governance. From labor mobility to protection and inclusion, IOM remains committed to strong, forward-looking cooperation across the region.

Pleased to meet with @AzALWASIL, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the UN, to exchange views on Saudi Arabia’s ongoing engagement with the Global Compact for Migration and preparations for the 2026 International Migration Review Forum. We look forward to continued collaboration.

Everyone is tired of the war in Ukraine, but fatigue cannot be the reason we abandon those in need. Cutting aid now risks deepening crises and forcing more people to move. Peace must be the goal. Dignity must guide our response. reuters.com/world/everybod…
Tightening borders and cutting aid is a recipe for instability. To manage migration, we must invest in stability and opportunity at the source, not just enforce at the border. We need more foresight, not fear. apnews.com/article/italy-…
At the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome, I emphasized the need to ensure conditions for safe, dignified returns of displaced Ukrainians through economic recovery and social cohesion efforts. IOM stands ready to support those vulnerable every step of the way. #URC2025

At #URC2025, I reaffirmed IOM’s deep commitment to Ukraine’s recovery and our partnerships across the region. Grateful to meet H.E. @MarkoDjuric and @lubinetzs, vital allies in upholding dignity, rights, and resilience for those most affected by war.

Grateful for meaningful discussions today at #URC2025 with 🇱🇹 Foreign Minister @BudrysKestutis, 🇧🇪 Deputy Prime Minister @prevotmaxime & 🇪🇺 Special Envoy @YlvaJohansson. We reaffirmed our shared commitment to safe, regular migration, & to Ukraine’s recovery, protection & future.

In Rome for #URC2025 to join governments, businesses and communities working together to support Ukraine’s recovery. We are here to help rebuild lives, restore services, and stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
In the UK this week, I saw how smart partnerships can unlock the promise of migration. When governments, businesses, and communities work together, migration fuels opportunity, for all. Let’s scale safe pathways. Let’s invest in people.
Today I met skilled professionals rebuilding their lives, and strengthening the UK, through @UNmigration’s Displaced Talent for Europe initiative with @TBBforTalent. When we invest in displaced talent, everyone wins: people find safety & host countries meet urgent labor needs.
