Nowhere in #Gaza is safe. On Thursday, our Red Cross hospital received 17 wounded women, 2 of them dead. They were trying to access aid, as the main providers for their families. A 15-year-old saw her mother shot and bleeding on the ground. The situation is appalling.

Violence against humanitarians must stop: one life lost is already too many.
In #EinElHelwe camp, the #ICRC trained local organizations on proper #ManagementOfTheDead in case of mass disasters, ensuring dignity in recovery and facilitating the identification process when it matters most. Preparedness today means dignity tomorrow.
In armed conflicts, no matter when, no matter who says the opposite, civilians must be protected and respected. Without excuses. Under international humanitarian law, every party to a conflict must follow this essential rule.
Humanitarian aid is crucial for civilians fleeing conflicts. It can be a matter of life and death. Parties to conflicts must facilitate its rapid, unimpeded passage and delivery. Millions of people need humanitarian aid, without it, they won't even have the basics for survival.
Under the rules of war, parties to conflicts cannot use starvation of civilians as a method of warfare. This includes depriving them of food, water, or other essentials needed to survive, even if it does not lead to death but causes suffering. Even wars have limits. #IHL

All parties involved in armed conflicts, whether it is a non-state armed group or a state, must protect civilians and civilian objects without excuses. Civilians shouldn't bear the cost of the hostilities.
