Congrats Captain!
Congratulations to Captain Donald Morrell on his promotion to this rank. In keeping with current tradition, he was presented with a helmet front piece and cap badge denoting his new rank. Ceremony took place at the Training Academy, where he will be serving. #DCsBravest
On behalf of the nearly 2,500 firefighters dedicated to keeping Washington, D.C.'s residents and visitors safe, we urge Speaker Johnson to swiftly pass the District of Columbia Local Funds Act, 2025!

Whether it is the Firehouse or the White House, Local 36 is always focused on firefighter issues.

We are grateful to the @councilofdc for restoring our right to negotiate FY 2025 pay as part of the collective bargaining process. Let’s build on this momentum — it’s time to fund a fair contract for DC Firefighters. 🔥 #GoodFaithBargaining #DCFirefighters #contract #dc
DC Firefighters are proud to support Salim Adofo for Ward 8 DC Council!

DC Firefighters Deserve Good Faith Bargaining!

DC Firefighters continue to face growing threats. The violence hasn’t stopped. This is not just a one-time incident—it’s part of a disturbing pattern. 📷 Hear from Local 36 President David Hoagland, followed by NBC4’s shocking investigation into the assault of a DC Firefighter
Thanks to DC Firefighters who courageously shared their stories about their battle with Occupational Cancer. Especially Brother Steve Shipp who is gone but not forgotten. Thanks to @IAFFPresident for leading the way on ending cancer in the Fire Service. nbcwashington.com/investigations…
DC Firefighters are fighting more than fires — they’re fighting cancer and the city for the benefits they deserve. NBC4’s latest investigation exposes the struggle. 🔥🎗️ #IAFF #FightingForOurOwn 🔗 nbcwashington.com/investigations…

Congratulations!
Fire Investigator Brandon Segears of the Fire Investigation Unit recently graduated from the @DCPoliceDept Training Academy. It is a requirement in order to become an armed investigator in the unit. #DCsBravest
Development in DC has led to a 20% increase in population density— yet the District hasn’t opened a new firehouse since 1987. The RFK development plan should include the construction of a new firehouse on site. Keep our city safe! @Commanders @MayorBowser washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/05…
Local 36 members in action…. Garage blaze prompts quick response from DC firefighters, no injuries reported. wjla.com/news/local/gar…
It was great to speak with @RepBenCline about the need for the House to pass S. 1077, a bill to prevent furloughs of DC Firefighters. This bill has already passed the Senate unanimously and is endorsed by President Trump.

Technician Shipp died in the line of duty last week after succumbing to occupational cancer. He was a staunch advocate for our presumptive legislation and was fighting for increased coverage till his death. Any donation is greatly appreciated. RIP Shipp helpahero.com/campaign/shipp…
DC Firefighters continued lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill today, meeting with congressional staff to encourage the House to take up the DC Local Funds Act (S. 1077) when they return from recess.
