Another hyped study in @NatureMedicine claiming to have developed a predictive test for the identification of women at risk of developing preeclampsia. Sobering: The predictive value is no better than the cheap routine measurement of sICAM & sVCAM reported more than 20 years ago.

7/Epigenetic states define disseminated tumor cell (DTC) fate. In this study, the authors find that hypomethylated DTCs respond to WNT ligands, extravasate and undergo dormancy, while methylated DTCs proliferate intravascularly. @moviqu @HellmutAugustin nature.com/articles/s4301…

Of the 191 lucky ERC SyG awardees, 12 (6.3%) are from the US, i.e., European taxpayer money supports research in the US. While I greatly support the openness of the ERC to promote international collaboration, I wish US funding agency were similarly supportive of European science!
