Haringey would not be the great place it is today without the contribution of immigrants and refugees. It is the world in one place and will always be a place of welcome where everyone can belong and thrive. I joined neighbours in Hackney & Islington to reinforce this message👇🏼

Bibi Khan and I also wrote to the Home Secretary on rising Islamophobia, antisemitism and civil unrest. Haringey stood against the Far Right 48 years ago at the Battle of Wood Green. We will stand against the Far Right again and again.
The government is right to move to end the use of hotels to house asylum seekers. But be under no illusion. These ‘protests’ are being led and coordinated by fascists. And Nigel Farage & Tommy Robinson are spreading fake news that fuels the fires the fascists are lighting.

Following a meeting with representatives from our Muslim communities in Haringey, Bibi Khan and I have written to the Foreign Secretary calling for: - Recognition of a Palestinian state - An end to arms sales to Israel Our communities are urging the government to step up.
