After 736 gripping pages, finally put down Trollope's Orley Farm. George Orwell thought it the greatest 19th century novel about a lawsuit, and I certainly can't think of a better one. Superior to Bleak House.

Totally agree. This is utterly rubbish. If someone is willing to volunteer to put their lives on the line for their country, they deserve more than a response from some computerised "I speak your weight" machine. I hope Healey is sorting this out
This article sums up everything that is wrong with military recruitment. An utterly risk averse process designed to weed out tiniest hint of issues but in doing so causing long term harm to military as a whole. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/0…
Tell me the good things about the UK, Oleg or whoever you are
Can someone inform the BritNat STV news that ships do break down and need repairs. Also can someone ask the if there is anything good about Scotland.🏴
Quite so. Let's do it, and reform welfare too!
We should scrap the triple lock. The time has come. You want to cut spending and the size of the state? That’s a good start.
Thank goodness there wasn't a war on. If it had taken this long to service and turn around a fighter in the Battle of Britain we'd have lost!

Very good summary of the water report by @Feargal_Sharkey. Unless you address root causes, all you are doing is leaving the taxpayer to cough up for an unfixed mess. Literally throwing good money after bad.

Which military genius was responsible for this assessment? Step forward Lord West of Spithead!!
#OnThisDay 20 years ago MOD announces that 12 ships will be paid off. T45 order reduced from 12 to 6, personnel reduced by 1,500. 1SL at time said 'I am confident that these changes will leave the Navy better organised and equipped to face the challenges of the future.'

I'd say the current Scottish government bows to no one when it comes to serving the people of Scotland poorly
The sheer energy and passion they apply to denigrating and talking Scotland down is truly 'exceptional'. We are so poorly served by 'our' commentariat.

When you've stopped insulting others, I think you'll find Madri is a "Mediterrean style" lager brewed in Tadcaster. Last time I looked that was in Yorkshire

I’m delighted to see the French Police getting in the water today to stop a boat crossing and to rescue a little girl. We need much more of this! 🎬
Good to know we are asking questions about WhatsApps at the cost of about £10,000 an hour. Nice work for Mr Keith and his chums I am sure
💥Hugo KeithKC : “You don’t have access to any of the WhatsApps you sent during the time of the crisis do you?” 🤥Sunak:“No I don’t, I’ve changed my phone multiple times over the past few years and as that has happened the messages have not come across”👀
