Ayyy awesome! Honestly right now for boards, I'd say to lean into being a jack of all trades. Realistic korra-esque staging is huge right now. Everything is based on a big IP. I'm hoping cartoonier stuff comes back soon but right now all the studios are greenlighting very (1/2)

-realistic shows. Focus on staging! Study real life, even if you're going cartoony. Show that you can place characters realistically in space- use Blender if you gotta! even for simple shots I'll make a mockup like this so i can see how the perspective works--
Ngl, originally I think the mayor was meant to be a one-off appearance. He was just some weird guy. But either Sarah or David I think had the idea to make him part of the larger plot, and pitched the idea to our Lego execs. It ended up being a really nice way to tie him in!
Man I loved getting to board them in the fight with NezHa. I had WAY more choreography planned for the fight that I had to scrap with Peng's spear/feather barrage. Had i the ability to give them 10x the screen time... I hope they're doing okay in celestial Jail.
In my head, at least, I liked to imagine that he was covering up some of his features with magic, either out of hurt or out of pride- who can say. If you asked him, he'd say it was out of vanity, but the truth is probably more that the scars remind him of his fallout with MKing
I think this was mainly for ease of animation. Our design team adapted the lego designs into our anim models as best as they could, but the six ears looked very busy on Mac. Plus with monkey ears he became a pretty 1:1 silhouette of mKing, which means we can reuse anim a little!
