Just realized it's the 25th anniversary of my first visit to Qatar! At the time I led a European Commission Task Force for exploring the state of Gulf studies in Europe & European Studies in the Gulf, with the aim of boosting both in an instance of "decentralized cooperation" 1/
"When war crimes are overlooked in exchange for temporary relief, impunity becomes normalised. Starvation becomes an acceptable weapon of war. Civilian lives turn into bargaining chips." — #AJOpinion by @daoudkuttab ⤵️ aje.io/kmu2pl
Israel and many Israelis are increasingly weaponizing the term "antisemitism." What once denoted terrifying hatred has become a shield for deflecting legitimate criticism of government policy | Opinion | @adizes haaretz.com/opinion/2025-0…
There used to be a city here called Beit Hanoun… Israel wiped it out and destroyed it, just as it destroyed hundreds of Palestinian villages and towns when it occupied Palestine in 1948.

Malnutrition in #Gaza has risen sharply. In July so far, MSF clinics have recorded 983 cases of malnourished children, up from 293 in May. That’s a more than threefold increase in just over a month. Of these, 326 were under two years old. See dataviz >> public.flourish.studio/visualisation/…
Cardinal Pizzaballa visits the ruins of the Rosary Sisters School, a Catholic school in Gaza, desecrated by Israeli soldiers with Hebrew graffiti and the Star of David
4/5 x.com/ZiadMDaoud/sta…
This piece on Gaza, genocide, and intent, is a very well written and properly argued piece by a former UK Supreme Court judge. Disagree with it if you want. But the truth is: you'll find very few UK experts, in and out of policy circles, who disagree. Including in government.

“Teenagers being shot by Israeli soldiers.” Nick Maynard is a British gastrointestinal surgeon, who is currently in Gaza, working at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. We began by asking him what he can tell us about the shootings near the aid distribution sites this morning.
UNRWA has enough food for the entire population of #Gaza for over three months stockpiled in warehouses–including this one in Al Arish, Egypt–awaiting entry. The supplies are available. The systems are in place. Open the gates, lift the siege, allow UNRWA to do its work and…

Member States - State Parties to the International Health Regulations (2005) - have the right to decide whether or not to adopt and, subsequently, implement amendments to the IHR. We regret the US decision to reject the amendments adopted by consensus by the World Health Assembly…
The proposed amendments to the International Health Regulations open the door to the kind of narrative management, propaganda, and censorship that we saw during the COVID pandemic. The United States can cooperate with other nations without jeopardizing our civil liberties,…
The discipline is staggering… AIPAC’s coordination is chillingly impressive, u gotta admit.. US congressmen bark the same script on cue.
🤯. Predictable & chilling.
“one officer told her: “Mentioning freedom of Gaza, Israel, genocide, all of that all come under proscribed groups, which are terror groups that have been dictated by the government.” Absolutely chilling. How is this okay @DavidLammy?? theguardian.com/world/2025/jul…
In today's UN Security Council session on #Syria, every single member state has condemned #Israel's recent military actions in #Syria & called on it to cease interference in #Syria's affairs. Even the U.S. said it "did not support" #Israel's actions & urged it to stop.
“I cannot justify, I cannot defend what we are doing in Gaza.” Former Shin Bet commander Ami Ayalon tells me why Benjamin Netanyahu’s Israeli governing coalition wouldn’t survive a debate over ‘the day after’ the Gaza war.
