“That’s the way we’ve always done it” is not a justification. It’s a lazy excuse for failing to evolve. Blind faith in traditions makes us prisoners of the past. Routines should be based on present value and future potential. A key to new growth is questioning old habits.

Our two institution (UAB and Mayo Clinic) experience for an ultra-rare disease, malignant histiocytosis, encompassing the 'sarcomas' (histiocytic, dendritic and Langerhans). Kudos to @GordonRuan for his perseverance on this study that took nearly 5 years to publish.@Histiocytosis

This is a classic example of how to not send mass emails to get shadowing opportunities. I realize that it is hard to get such rotations as an IMG, so you have to be very specific in your email showing that you are genuinely interested. Such emails get deleted unfortunately.

Rare! What is it?
A 62-year-old man was incidentally found to have soft-tissue infiltration of the kidneys and severe hydronephrosis on CT. Histopathological examination of a core-biopsy specimen revealed pale-staining histiocytes. nej.md/3ydbkPY
In this national study co-led by @richaparikh36 we found that individuals with LCH have a higher risk of mortality from non-LCH causes (CV disease, second cancers, infections). There is a need to identify those at highest risk #survivorship @HistiocyteSoc @Histiocytosis @ECDGA
