Sundar is not a top 6 quality batter. He’s an off spinner who’s a handy batter. Sobers is one of the greatest batters to ever play this sport.
True. He provides tremendous balance to the side. He can be your lead spinner as well as a Number 5 batter. This is a rare combination. Only Garry Sobers comes to my mind. Him playing at 5 allows us to play 3 pacers + NKR + Extra batter or pacer or spinner depending on situation
Stokes was well within his rights to offer the draw and Jadeja and Washi were will with their rights to turn it down with a century in sights. Having a meltdown over refusal to shake hands for draw just makes the English team look like petulant children.
2 days fielding and no result on the cards - you WANT to get off the field! You cannot have a pop at Ben Stokes for his frustration. Very easy to have a pop at him when you’re sitting in your lounge watching. You’re NOT in the battle. Leave the men in the ring to be emotional.
They are very similar batters in terms of style of play. Great accumulators as supporting batter rather than dominant. Imran is on a whole different level with ball though.
Both Imran Khan and Rabindra Jadeja have batted in 126 test innings and remained unbeaten 25 times. Their batting records are almost identical. Imran 3,807 runs at 37.69 Jadeja 3,824 runs at 37.86
I have no logical explanation for what happened back then other than the involvement of bookies. There was 0 chance of defeat and they didn't even give the target a go.
Whenever the topic of a handshake comes up on the last day of the test match, it triggers my childhood trauma. When we needed 86 runs in 15 overs against the West Indies with 7 wickets in hand, and Dhoni went for a handshake.
𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 became 70th Indian to Score an Overseas Century 1) Vijay Merchant 2) S Mushtaq Ali 3) Vinoo Mankad 4) Vijay Hazare 5) Dattu Phadkar 6) Vijay Manjrekar 7) Polly Umrigar 8) Madhav Apte 9) Pankaj Roy 10) Abbas Ali Baig 11) Salim Durani 12)…
We simply have to win at the Oval now. Give Bumrah compound V if needed but make sure he’s fit and available.
Some test 100s may he held on a higher pedestal but any test 100 is an excellent achievement. High time we get over stigmatisation of milestones.
I don’t understand how a 100 or any other milestone has anything to do with the culture. You’re in the nineties and there’s a lot of time, why wouldn’t you want that triple-digit score? If none of it meant anything, why do you have honour boards? #ENGvsIND
We all watched England go milestone hunting at Manchester in 2023 with a grim looking forecast for the last two days which cost them the Ashes. Funniest part of it was that Bairstow was stranded on 99.
Trott: "Common practice in England, and Ben Stokes' mentality is that there are no personal milestones. If you get offered to end game earlier, it's taken" Manjrekar: "Trott comes from a different culture. Whole world doesn't play as per English way of cricket." #ENGvsIND
Stokes complaining about the pitch flattening out after taking 2 wicket on day 5 of which one was a shooter is very funny.
This England crash out is unbelievably petulant. Nobody is going to shake hands when a test match 100 is on the line especially Washi who didn't have one before this.
Just need Jadeja to get 46 or more runs at the Oval for agenda purposes.
Woakes trying to land back of hand slower balls into the rough on day 5 of a test.

Sundar the batter is unbelievably overrated. All the criticisms of Jadeja are applicable for him without a fraction of the FC calibre. I’m not sure he’s a better batter than even Ashwin. Will end up as an offie who’s a decent-ish lower order batter.
Since Kallis, has there been an all-rounder with as much potential to be a genuine top-four batter and a frontline bowler as Washington Sundar? Still only 25. Insane ceiling. #ENGvsIND
