The Homeland Security gavel just went to someone who voted for the J6 Commission and Biden’s trillion-dollar infrastructure bill. Why does this place keep rewarding moderates who vote with Democrats while sidelining actual conservatives? This isn’t what Americans voted for.

Democrats essentially ground the House to a halt.
NEWS — RALPH NORMAN, hardline conservative on the House Rules Committee, says the panel will not report a rule this week for bills, effectively shutting down the house floor. Why? He doesn’t want to vote on Democrats’ Epstein amendments. He says it’s grandstanding.
Top Democrat on House Rules @RepMcGovern, on Epstein resolution: “Democrats on the Rules Committee gave Republicans a choice—either vote to release the Epstein Files, or keep them a secret. Republicans are so afraid of taking that vote that they are torching their own agenda…
With no action by the Rules Committee because of the dustup over the Epstein Files, the House will only vote on two minor bills on Tuesday. (My bet is a similar schedule for Wednesday, and then everyone goes home until after Labor Day. Stay tuned.)
Heads up work by @RepMcGovern, Rules Committee Dems, and our leadership again maximizing the effects of Republican chaos and infighting, showing that they can’t govern effectively. The legislative situation here did not rise spontaneously, House Dems helped put the Rs in a jam
For those not on Capitol Hill, this is a House GOP debacle. They are so scared of votes re: Epstein that they will punt most of this week's legislative schedule and start their summer break early.
Two GOP members of the House Rules Committee told us no rule will be produced for bills this week, all because the GOP can't figure out a path forward on Epstein
The concern in the leadership is not only getting a rule out of committee. But they don’t think they can get a rule across the floor.
Just to put this in context. The House Rules Committee needs to report a rule so the speaker can put bills on the floor. The rules committee is paralyzed because of how the speaker is dealing with the Epstein issue. So the House can’t do anything of substance this week.

NEWS - House Rules Committee isn’t returning AT ALL tonight and likely not AT ALL THIS week amid Epstein + other issues, per sources Scalise confirms to me it’s “not likely” Rules return - meaning House would leave without advancing immigration and several other bills
House Republicans have discussed several possible options for Epstein-related measures in Rules tonight - but haven’t landed on anything so far, per sources Rules has recessed until likely 9:30/10pm with some members attending 7pm GOP steering mtg on Homeland chair race Rs…
This stock trading issue is not going away for him and, per people I have talked to, makes this the seat Republicans are most anxious about losing, after the Bacon seat in NE.
