The Irish government wants to pass a law that could see you or your loved ones jailed for possession of memes, cartoons or any content that could be deemed "hateful". The Bill includes no definition of hate and is wide open to abuse by bad actors. Defend free speech – say no to…
How compatible is the EU’s Digital Services Act with article 11 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union which concerns freedom of expression and information? 1. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions…
Because I’m in the UK, this is what I see on X now when attempting to read or view random political posts from my followers. There is no current way to prove my age even though X takes payment from me each month.
Remember when JD Vance tore into Keir Starmer over free speech in the Oval Office, only to be hammered by the entire establishment media? Turns out he was spot on. The Online Safety Act proves it. Censorship has triumphed over liberty. Britain is knee-deep in authoritarianism.
It's official. The UK is now officially a police state. It has become precisely what Orwell warned about. Criticize mass migration and you can expect the police to come to your home. And judges will give longer sentences for wrong think than many violent crimes.
A welcome pushback by @OCallaghanJim. There is no democratic mandate for new hate-speech sentences.

The Commission's approach goes beyond banning incitement to hatred. Ireland has criminal laws for that exact offence, yet we are now being threatened with proceedings unless we introduce new laws targeting “hateful” speech.
In Europe, we have concrete frameworks in place to achieve this, including: 🔹 European Convention on Human Rights 🔹 Digital Services Act requiring platforms to quickly remove illegal hate speech 🔹 Criminal laws banning incitement to hatred
“I would urge the Commission to revisit the approach they’re taking to hate speech laws—and indeed, to Ireland.” Michael McNamara, MEP, pushes back against threatened proceedings.
Hate speech laws are counter-productive. They are also profoundly illiberal. They've damaged the UK and we don't want the same. I asked the European Commission to drop threatened proceedings against Ireland and hate speech laws.

What are Lad Bible up to?? While advocating for Hate Speech Laws they’ve managed to promote a fake EU Leprechaun Law?? 🤔 Video explanation 👇🏻
Excellent piece by Colette Colfer on "Stifling Academic Freedom in Ireland": "There is a paradox at the heart of the Irish higher education system when it comes to academic freedom. On the one hand the Universities Act 1997 states that universities have the responsibility to…
A professor at UCD, @timcrowley_, has criticised @hea_irl for pushing the radical Athena SWAN Charter: “Every university in Ireland has adopted, or is in the process of adopting, a set of commitments that explicitly undermine free speech and academic freedom.”
Irish academics are now compelled by their universities to promote gender ideology. Failure to promote an “affirmative” environment can lead to lost funding and ruined careers. This is an affront to freedom of conscience, says Tim Crowley buff.ly/Nsg6aNW
Ireland's duty to censor American platforms under the EU's DSA does us no favours. Censorship is prone to political bias, whereas free speech is neutral by nature.
Insulting someone is not a crime, and criminalizing speech is going to put real strain on European-US relationships. This is Orwellian, and everyone in Europe and the US must reject this lunacy.
Your front doorbell rings. “We’re here to talk to you about a report that has been made of your having been involved in a Non-Hate Crime Incident" Is this form of anti-free speech legal intimidation coming our way in Ireland? @SpeechUnion @FreeSpeechIre @Furedibyte @jtworr…
We encourage supporters of free speech not to vote for the Green Party in the upcoming General Election. They have created a ridiculous situation where environmentalists would have to vote against their civil liberties.
The Green Party will “certainly” try to pass new hate speech laws after the general election if they return to government, party leader Roderic O’Gorman has said: gript.ie/greens-will-ce…
