Fiona Hyslop
@FionaHyslop
MSP for the Linlithgow Constituency in the Scottish Parliament. Promoted by Fiona Hyslop, 59 West Main Street, Whitburn, West Lothian, EH47 0QD.
Over a decade ago, I was proud to introduce the bill that gave 16 and 17-year-olds the vote in Scottish elections. Young people here have a stake in shaping our future, and it made Scotland’s democracy stronger. The UK is finally catching up - this change is long overdue.
If Keir Starmer continues to refuse to recognise the state of Palestine, then the SNP will introduce a Bill in Parliament to do just that. And we will force a vote to ensure his Government has no place to hide. #Gaza
First Minister @JohnSwinney welcomed President of @EU_Commission Ursula @vonderleyen to Scotland yesterday. The First Minister discussed the UK’s relationship with the EU, the situation in Gaza and Ukraine, and Scotland’s partnership with Europe on key issues. 📸 @EC_AVService
I put my baby boy to bed tonight knowing he’s safe. Mothers in Gaza are watching theirs be starved to death. @Keir_Starmer - STOP equivocating! Recognise the State of Palestine now & help to end this atrocity.

So sorry to hear this and condolences to his family. I got to know Sir Kenneth Calman when he was Chair of the National Library of Scotland and as Chair of the National Trust for Scotland. Ever thoughtful and always a pleasure to meet him - his was a lifetime of service.
I am very sorry to hear this sad news about Sir Kenneth Calman. He made an enormous contribution to public life in Scotland and I enjoyed enormously my many encounters with him. I express my sympathy and appreciation to his family. bbc.com/news/articles/…
Straight from the tap into Scotlands homes, the great value of making sure our precious resources are maintained for the benefit of the people of Scotland 🏴
We screen, filter, purify & test your water, in fact we have 99.92% total water quality compliance. 🙌 Top up from the tap with Scotland’s most precious natural resource. #OwnedByYou #YourWaterYourLife ➡️ yourwateryourlife.co.uk/ownedbyyou
Despite what Labour are claiming, Scottish water is world renowned. 87% of Scotland’s entire water environment is assessed by SEPA as having a ‘high’ or ‘good’ classification for water quality – up from 82% in 2014. Public ownership is not just possible, it works in Scotland!
My letter to UK Gov Minister Steve Reed asking him to retract his false statements about the condition of water in Scotland. IWC was able to report we’re in a much better position than rUk with 87% “high” or “good” status. Public ownership works. scottishgov-newsroom.prgloo.com/correspondence…

This statement @WFP is unbearable to read. The international community must require the Israeli Government to stop these attacks and there must be a ceasefire now to allow humanitarian aid to flow.
WFP Statement | #Gaza On the morning of 20 July, a 25 truck WFP convoy carrying vital food assistance crossed the Zikim border point destined for starving communities in northern Gaza. Shortly after passing the final checkpoint beyond the Zikim crossing point into Gaza, the…
Many children in Gaza need evacuation for treatment. Without it they will die. We're ready to save the lives of as many kids as we can. But we need the UK Gov to work with us. I want to work with the PM to save the lives of Palestinian children. itv.com/news/2025-07-1…

🧵1/ I’m in politics because I believe Scotland can do so much better with independence. In 2014, we imagined a fairer, more confident country. That vision didn’t fade - in fact, and it’s more urgent and needed more than ever.

This is Nigel Farage sabotaging Scotland’s renewable energy industry 👇
NEW At the moment energy companies prep participation in the crucial UK AR7 clean energy capacity auction, Reform makes unprecedented threat to them that a “likely” future Government will “strike down all contracts” signed under AR7 “Should you choose to participate, you should…
Dear Europe, thank you for standing with Scotland. We are a proudly European nation and our future belongs in the EU. We’re working on it! 🇪🇺🏴
“We are targeting all sources of clean water in Gaza. Wells, aquifers, plants, and delivery systems. Everything,” an IDF source told me two months ago. That sentence has echoed in my head since but nowhere did it hit harder than in the aftermath. But it hit me harder when I read…
