Occasional news from and about Highbury Fields, London N5. (This is neither an HFA nor an Islington Council account.)
So pleased that @IslingtonBC has decided permanently to reunite the two halves of Highbury Fields. It was always a big plus for park users and local residents, and the last year has underscored its importance. #UnderTheStreetsTheFields #ReuniteTheFields
Sandstorms are sweeping through #Zaatari_Camp today. 🌪🌪️
Last I heard from @IslingtonBC was on 13/June with this: "...they had delays in shipping the unit. Its being installed and should be operational very soon." Not sure what "very soon" means, as it was supposed to be by Feb. 😡
#Onthisday Giorgio Morandi was born in 1890. In 1912 he taught himself to etch using old manuals, and printmaking came to occupy an important place within his practice. Giorgio Morandi, Poplars, 1930.

In the increasingly hostile and unusable world of ex-Twitter, I think this was intended as some kind of threat and abuse, but it actually turned out quite well (if not wholly accurate!)

Amber weather alart for torrential rain with thunderstorms tonight (peaking 4am-11am) - we seem to be right in the middle of it. Thundery weather through the weekend and into Monday too. Make the most of the sun! #HighburyFieldsWeather

At the soft launch of the Coach & Horses this evening. It’s opening tomorrow at 4pm. I absolutely love it and all the local history on the walls, and especially the rare 1880s pricing posters that were uncovered on a wooden wall during the renovation. 1/3
@FieldsHighbury Oh dear. I guess the difference is that this account has always worked with real people, not bots. Meanwhile the fake account @JBemfair , specialising in misinformation and fascist tropes, has run away.

Video circulating of quite a distressing incident at the station this evening - several gentlemen fighting on the stairs up from the Northbound platform, and a child on the floor (apparently un-injured). Did anyone see what happened, please? #HighburyandIslington

The contractors managed to collide with a lamppost on Highbury Grove when they delivered the new loo some weeks ago - the lamp is still leaning and waiting to be repaired.
"I said I was shocked by the secrecy and cover-up over the admission of thousands of Afghans to Britain at the cost of £7bn to the taxpayer. What did I say, Roy?" "You said 'I was Foreign Secretary when it happened'."
I am shocked by the secrecy and cover-up over the admission of thousands of Afghans to Britain at the cost of £7bn to the taxpayer. A decision that was in itself wrong. It is an huge betrayal of public trust. Those responsible in both Governments and the bureaucracy need to be…
After 9 months @IslingtonBC are still rebuilding the toilets near the pool, so what hope do we have for larger projects? 😩
DUSTERS! Liberia and Calabria Roadx starting at the south end and working up.
Thanks to The Brewhouse & Kitchen, Highbury for hosting our branch AGM. Brilliant staff! A special shout out to Rich from Werewolf Brewery for giving an interesting talk about how he started out & the challenges a small independent brewery faces. #cask
