So.. Just my two cents but.. I think #FF7 is a love story. Maybe in 97 we could've argued there were other larger themes. I think that argument has merit. But Remake leans so heavily into the theme of lovers reuniting, even in the face of death; it seems strange to ignore it.
Really? Does Cloud lose Tifa forever? It's actually not vague at all. It's a clear foreshadowing element placed with intention into the main narrative. You cannot misunderstand it at all, unless you're biased and don't come to terms with it.
And that's why I confidently say fake neutral. Saying "devs have not picked a side" after Aerith's Rosa 4/6 times in a play specifically about two lovers reuniting is the definition of picking a side, nevermind the rest like chapter 14 of the main story supporting it directly.
"Not necessarily romantic"? Loveless is by definition lovers reuniting. Cloud and Aerith share a plethora of main story similarities to Alphreid and Rosa. Admitting it's them means they're lovers. "Aerith's so much more than who she loves!" True, but admit the comically obvious.
