Rhode Island State Representative(Providence HD-9)
It’s not baffling- she listened to her constituents. That’s what leaders do. @RachelRI is committed to finding a use for the building that does not take away from Providence Public School students.
“Baffling” and “beyond comprehension.” Mayor Brett Smiley and Councilman Pedro Espinal say they are confused by Council Pres. Rachel Miller’s decision to vote against a proposed lease for the old Lauro building, which Miller helped to renegotiate. wpri.com/news/local-new…
Ok
An elected state representative saying this
If Democrats know what’s good for their future, they must embrace @ZohranKMamdani. He’s creating new hope among many who’d given up. & generating more excitement than all of the gray “centrist” folks combined. They shouldn’t try to tame, muzzle, or mold him. He’s real!

RI Energy’s schemes are in the news yet again. This last legislative session had numerous proposed bills at the State House to take on the unaccountable RI Energy monopoly and reduce costs for families. The @RIHouseofReps and @RISenate chose not to pass a single one of them.
State regulators have ordered an audit of Rhode Island Energy’s billing practices after thousands of ratepayers submitted complaints and state agencies were overcharged nearly $1 million. wpri.com/money/puc-to-c…

In the next presidential administration we need to abolish ICE, strip them from their power and charge all their current officials and foot soldiers for crimes against the state, violation of constitutional rights and violation of human rights.
This is how to lead a city. Asi se maneja una ciudad.
Baltimore has been investing youth programming, including late night programs, summer camps, teen jobs, sports, after school programs, etc. Homicides in the city are down 40%, with steep drops in robberies, carjackings, and shootings. This should be talked about more.

Our Local 618-Providence, RI, is pushing back on proposed service cuts and potential layoffs of our members. #ATUStrongerTogether #1u ripbs.org/transportation…
About time our Rhode Island state government start holding Rhode Island energy accountable. Ya era hora de que nuestro gobierno del estado de Rhode Island comience a responsabilizar a la compania energía de Rhode Island.

Seriously, what are we doing here
RIPTA just proposed service cuts to nearly every bus line in Rhode Island, eliminating 9 routes entirely. “We haven’t seen cuts this large in our history, from what we understand,” CEO Chris Durand said after today’s board meeting.
Our eviction sealing clinic is back! If you have an eviction on your record, you can now seal them! Come by July 29th 5pm to 8 pm! 🥰
These devastating cuts affect almost every single route. If you are a @RIPTA_RI rider, PLEASE make a plan to attend a hearing and speak out.
RIPTA will hold public hearings on proposed service reductions starting July 28 - Aug. 6. The reductions are part of cost controls to manage a $17.6M budget deficit. Riders should attend to learn more and provide public comment. For details, visit: bit.ly/4o6ZOy2
Shoutout to Council President Rachel Miller for listening to the community and voting against leasing the Carl G. Lauro building to a big box charter school network. Our traditional public schools deserve support, not handoffs. #WeWillRemember
As a Providence School Board member, I want to thank @RachelRI for listening to the voices of our city. And for standing with our communities by withdrawing support for the proposed lease to Excel Academy. This is a win for African, refugee, immigrant, and all Providence…
Preserve public schools!
Thank you Providence City Council @pvdcitycouncil we must do everything it takes to defend, protect and preserve our public schools and institutions. That’s the style! No to privatization of our education system.
